Added you, Bill!

Finally solved all of The Riddler's riddles in Batman: Arkham Asylum - didn't even cheat! But still only have 65% of the trophies. I suck at collecting trophies.

And for Modern Warfare, I just ordered a headset... I'm totally putting a voice changer on it so that I sound like an ewok.

Uncharted 2 review by G4 TV's Adam Sessler

Quote
I’m not 100% certain when it happened. I think it’s when I had Nathan Drake atop a building in a war-torn Nepalese city, cornered and being fired upon by a helicopter, engaged in a fist fight with the screen slowly draining of color, snapping my enemy’s neck and quickly rolling into cover to reload my grenade launcher only to turn and fire upon the chopper one last time as I watched it crash and explode. I think this is when I realized that Uncharted 2: Among Thieves was the best single-player game I have ever played.

Gives me chills.   ;D

Dude doesn't shower praise lightly.  It's gonna be a long two weeks, I'm afraid.

Be sure you play through a bunch of other games before you get to Uncharted 2.  It'll spoil you to everything else.   ;)

Sweet!  I didn't know they made an arcade fighter controller!

I gave up on fighting games after Street Fighter 2 came out in the mid-ninties or so...Way too many complex combos that just lost me in many of the fighting games.  Looks like a cool controller though!

Took advantage of a couple of Amazon deals...

$60 Modern Warfare 2
$56 Fallout 3 Game of the Year Edition
$27 Uncharted

Altogether, $60 credit added to my account... so I'll pick up either Uncharted 2 or Badlands for free.

Basically $35 for four titles, three new releases and one Greatest Hits.

Dusted Ratchet and Clank.  I only play games for a few hours on weekends and the other PS2 R + C games I've played lasted a bit longer it seems.  Kind of a let down, but it was fun and AWESOME candy for the eyes.

Bionic Commando
Dark Sector
DeadSpace
Rainbow Six Vegas

Any suggestions for what I should hit next?  Probably not the most stellar line up, but this is all I have at this point.  Also noticed that the fan gets quite noisy after awhile...is that typical?  I'm sure it is but thought I'd ask you vets.

Here's what I've got...

Bioshock
Rock Band 2
Star Wars Force Unleashed
Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution
Metal Gear Solid IV
Grand Theft Auto IV
The Orange Box
Call of Duty 4
Resistance: Fall Of Man
Batman: Arkham Asylum
Beatles: Rock Band

Ordered, not played...

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
Fallout 3 (Game of the Year)
Modern Warfare 2

iFett, I recommend Bioshock, Star Wars Force Unleashed, Metal Gear Solid IV, and Grand Theft Auto IV. All of which are in the $30 range. If you want to drop $60, I recommend Batman: Arkham Asylum. I'm not a huge Batman fan, but it's a great, great game - even has voice acting with Mark Hamill.

Regarding the fan...

How old is your machine? How long do you play it before it gets loud? How loud is it when its first boot up, how loud does it become? The fan shouldn't sound any louder than a laptop fan, even a couple of hours into play. Check to see if the air ducts are covered by dust or if the machine is sort of crammed into a corner where it can't breathe, or anything like that that may prevent air from coming and going.

The original 60-Gig model has a nosier fan than later models.  I need to crack mine open and vacuum it out at some point, as the fan kicks in after about 15 minutes and never stops.  It's still much quieter than a 360, but it's noticeable.

If you have a new Slim the fan is supposed to be essentially silent.  If it's making distracting noise I'd get it looked at.

I bought a new 80G fat model back when the slims first came out and just openend and connected it last weekend.  I have it hooked up flat - flush with the stand for my LCD so perhaps that's what's causing it?  The stand is only a few centimeters high so I didn't think that would be a problem.  It's quiet the first hour, but then it just sounds like it's going to take off into hour 2-4, but it quiets down at times.

Thanks for the recommendations on games AA - will have to check some of those out.  I played and beat TFU on PS2, but I really want the USE.  Definitely not a fan of $60 games.  I've always waited a year or two for the price to come down - same for the systems.   :)
