If it wasn't for Rob making an effort to get a huge celebrity's autograph while the huge celebrity was at Rob's work on business, I wouldn't have one Mr. Tommy Grand's autograph today.  And now it's probably my most-treasured possession.

At least you come out and say it and don't beat around the bush Brad.  :)

I think when Brad throws in qualifying statements like "pretty much" it's his way of beating around the bush.

But I still love him, even if he didn't pee on this thread.

I've been doing the autograph collecting thing for a while.  A couple of the signing opportunities have been somewhat impromptu.  In one case James Earl Jones was signing at a Verizon store in Harlem.  He was just doing a publicity appearance since he's the main spokesman for Verizon.  So a couple of Star Wars fans come in and ask for autographs.  His response?  He was actually very kind and very accomodating.  So now I have his auto on a photo and a POTF2 CommTech Vader.

There's definitely not any kind of "trick" for getting people to sign.  Just be nice to them and they may very well be accomodating.  Start getting pushy and they may respond in kind.

BTW, cool opportunity for you Darth Gamboa.  I haven't heard of any convention appearances by John Ratzenberger.  Probably because he works on a steady basis.  Those Pixar movies are also pretty lucrative, and his "Cheers" residuals are probably quite substantial.

Hey Guys, thanks for your support. I want to let you know that the reputation of my company and my department are my top priority and I won't do anything to embarass them. I'm not a big wig here but my desk display usually gets attention. If I don't get to speak to John initially, I might be able to through an assistant. I'm not  gonna bring a sign for him to take a picture with, but I would encourage him to go to the conventions. As far as anything else I'll look for opportunities and play it by ear and definitely show some class as I'll in part be representing you and other fans.

Sorry, no visitors. The company doesn't allow it during normal work hours, I had to say no to my nephew as well.

Everybody here is totally excited about tomorrow, and of course I'm stoked about the possibility of meeting John. I'll let you know how it works out.

Not much to report.

The film crew arrived first then surveyed the factory. John arrived a short time later and after a briefing with his team and my boss came up to engineering, were he greeted everyone. He then interviewed our two top engineers (not me). Our factory manager instructed me to wait in my own department, tooling, as John would be going from department to department and talking with the supervisors. I'm thinking "perfect", so I went down to the factory and got to work. The rest of the day I caught glimpses of him escorted by my boss, at other departments, but they never came to mine.

I just talked to my boss about it and he apologized, as he simply forgot, to visit tooling. Though I got to meet John, I'm dissapointed that my team and my department didn't get the recognition it deserved. Sorry if I got anybodys hopes up.

John Ratzenberger; friendly guy, no Boston accent.

If anybodys interested "U.S. Pole and Archetectural Lighting" will be featured on the first episode of the next season of John Ratzenbergers Made in America.

John Ratzenberger is doing a book signing here in town this evening.

I'm gonna go and ask him if he knew about all the **** he was the indirect cause of on a Star Wars action figure message board earlier this year.

When I read this thread title, I thought it said "Major Derlin in Padme".

I thought someone had stumbled across some very awkward homemade pron.

Seemed strange to me, too.

But hey, when you're John Ratzenberger, you do what you want.
