Not the week before the season starts - those are all booked up.

If you read above, we can move it to a week earlier and get an early evening time.

Otherwise, our only option is a forum draft - which would need to start in the next 5 days.

If I have to draft until 1:30 AM, I will I guess.  But that really sucks.

It does, and I don't intend to lessen that.

We'll start at 11:30 PM your time, hopefully it will be less than 2 hours.

I'm going to throw a bunch of questions out to see what everyone wants:

  • Do we want to stick with 12 teams?   Or does anyone think we'll need 14 or 16.  I guess we can always adjust it so long as it stays an even number.
  • Live draft or like we usually do it?  Either way is fine with me but I'd lean towards drafting here over the course of a week or two since we'll have more teams and it might be tougher to get everyone in one imaginary room at the same time.
  • Do you guys prefer that the Playoffs be week 14,15,16 or 15,16,17 - Either an extra week of Fantasy Football, or less chance of starters resting during the championship game?
  • How many bench spots?  I'm usually in favor of a few too many rather than a few too few
  • Can't Cut list or no?

It's currently set like this:

  • Scoring - Head to Head
  • Playoffs - Week 15,16,17
  • Max Teams - 12
  • League Start - Week 1

  • Post Draft Players - Follow Waiver Rules

Roster Size:
  • QB - 1

  • RB - 2
  • TE - 1
  • WR/TE - 1
  • WR/RB - 1
  • K - 1
  • DEF - 1
  • BN - 8

Scoring:
  • Passing TD's - 4 Points (I thought 3 was a little too few last year, but 6 is too many)
  • INT - Minus 1
  • Passing Yards - 75 Yards = 1 Point
  • Passing Bonus - 300 or more Yards = 1 Bonus Point
  • Rushing TD - 6 Points
  • Rushing Yards - 25 Yards = 1 Point

Is this the scheme decided?

A couple of things, two flex positions are going to push things pretty thin I think.  I'm more in favor of one.  Also 8 bench spots :o  That's 18 rounds of drafting and at 12 teams, we're going 216 deep?  Doesn't that seem a bit much?  I don't see why we need that many really, I think part of the fun is making hard decisions, not keeping a duplicate (or triplicate or more) of every position you have.

I'd suggest maybe 5 bench spots: backups for QB, WR, RB, TE and K/Def.  Given we're going to probably have 4 RB (assuming two starters, one flex and one bench) and 4 WR (as with RB) each, it's going to get awfully thin out there.  Going with 8 is going to largely render the waiver wire pretty damn boring and useless.  I'd personally like to see less than that and maybe give 2 IR spots (of which there seem to be none currently).  That's still 7 slots not actively used each week (assuming injuries).

Scoring looks mostly fine to me.

I've removed the flex WR/TE spot - because there was some concern about it before too.

Also, I could be talked into 7 or 6 bench spots, but I generally keep 2 DEF's and 2 Kickers for most of the season, but I don't want to go lower than 6.

As for IR, I'm all in favor of having 1 or 2 IR spots, but I don't see an option for it in there.  I'll look more in depth tomorrow to make sure it's set correctly.

Ok, didn't realized you'd removed a flex spot (too lazy to read entire thread), but that makes a big diff.  I'd still push for bench at 5, but six is ok too since we lost a flex.

Don't know about the IR setting, though in hockey I think you could specify, though it may have been a default setting too.

I didn't remove the WR/TE until after you posted today - so you're on top of things.

I'd like an IR spots

6 Bench spots seems like enough

Just doing my research and right around the 140th spot the talent drops off immensly and we'll be drafting NFL back ups

Some leagues employ WR/TE for all three receiver spots, I'd favor 2 WR and 1 TE...

The only other thing I'd propose if we're going to do 4 and 5 point FG's is that you get -1 for a miss

No one's against having IR spots.  I'm going to dig around today to see if it's something I set or if it's automatic.

As for -1 for a missed FG, I'm not a big fan of negative points so I'd rather not.  But if a handful of people agree that it should be that way, I'll change it.

I'm ok with a -1 point for missed FG.  Otherwise the kickers may be overvalued (probably not in the draft, but later on based on points).

6 bench spots will be fine by me since you dropped a flex spot.

I'm with Scott and favor a discrete TE spot.

The flex spot should be WR/RB, as it is currently.

All IMO.

I don't care how many flex spots, bench spots, IR spots, or point values we have, as long as it's set before the draft starts and remains that way throughout the entire season.

Just started concocting my initial draft strategy, and as I go through the top 100 it looks a lot more talented than it did last year.

Last year it seemed that there was a huge dropoff in talent after the 4th/5th round, and it does not seem to be the case this year.

God bless steroids?  ???

Well I'll say it up front then, it will all stay the same as it is pre-draft, with one exception.  It's everyone's intention for us to have IR spots (we can decide on 1 or 2 right now) but for the life of me I can't find a setting in there about it.

So I'm assuming that it's an automatic thing that Yahoo does and I'm going to see if I can email Yahoo about it.  But if the season starts and we don't have an IR spot or two, I'm going to be trying to fix it to be how we want it to be.

Update, here's what I found about this:

Quote
Is there an injured reserve spot on my roster?

No, there is no injured reserve position available in Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Football.

Across all fantasy games, Yahoo! requires a player to be on the real-life DL, IR, IL, etc. in order to qualify for a position there in the fantasy game.

In professional football, if a player is placed on injured reserve, he is deactivated for the season and is not eligible to return. As a result, that player has no fantasy value for the current season.

If a Custom League would like to allow managers to keep IR players for keeper-league purposes, we suggest configuring the league with one extra bench position.

With this in mind, does anyone want to up the number of bench spots back to 7 or 8?  I do.
