Hey,
I just clicked into yahoo football to check the draft time and it's currently showing it starts in one day, four hours and a couple of minutes.  That's 8:30 central, even though it says 8:30 Pacific.  What gives? :o

Refresh the page, sometimes that works.

I'd be for it if the scoreing looked something like this:

Field Goals Missed 0-19 Yards (-4)
Field Goals Missed 20-29 Yards (-3)
Field Goals Missed 30-39 Yards (-2)
Field Goals Missed 40-49 Yards (-1)
Field Goals Missed 50+ Yards (0)

Um, I don't know what the options are Zod that we're voting on, but -1 for a missed field goal seems fine to me.

This scenario that Ryan proposed is terrible.  If an interception is -1 and a fumble lost is -2, there should never be a scenario where a missed field goal is -3 or -4.

I guess my vote then is -1 for field goal missed.

That was just a suggestion from Ryan.  What we're discussing is -1 for a missed fieldgoal of any distance, or no loss for a missed fieldgoal.

I'm going to change it to -1 since there are currently 3 votes going that way and it's not like we have 10 people debating it.

It says 1 day, 4 hours and 47 minutes from now (locally it is 5:43) so that would add up to 10:30 for me, CST.

Gotcha.

I guess I should have specified that a little better. That is the way we score FGs in another of my leagues, but turnovers are also worth more, so it balances out. The reason we set it like that is kickers shouldn't be missing the little chip shots or anything up to 30 really, so we made them worth more. Missing something 30-40 is a little more understandable. And when a kicker misses a 50+ yarder you really shouldn't be punished the same as if they were to miss a 19 yarder. I like the idea of staggering the amount that you are penalized but I realize -4 is too high for this league with the rest of the scoring. What about:

Field Goals Missed 0-19 Yards (-2)
Field Goals Missed 20-29 Yards (-1)
Field Goals Missed 30-39 Yards (-1)
Field Goals Missed 40-49 Yards (0)
Field Goals Missed 50+ Yards (0)

That way it is staggered, but fair at the same time.

Weird.  I'm home now, not at work and the time is correct for tomorrow night.  Sorry for the aggravation.

No, that is way too severe IMO

I agree, I don't want that many negative points - especially for kickers.

Friendly advice for tomorrow, Priest Holmes and Curtis Martin are always solid first round picks!

Be serious Rob, nobody in a Jets uniform should be drafted.

EDIT:  Unless we ever deviate from team defense to individual players, in which case Jonathan Vilma would be the only Jet worthy of a fantasy roster spot.

Well, at the risk of spilling my draft strategy... I'm taking Pennington in the first round, Barlow in the second, Coles in the third, Jets' DEF in the fourth and Mike Nugent in the fifth.

Then I'd have to say chances of the draft unfolding exactly the way you're planning it looks excellent.

Plus my week 1 matchup suddenly looks a little more appealing.

Kevin, is that you?

No wait, that was two years ago and the Giants.  Guess I can't ride him too hard as the defending champeen.

I'm okay with a single negative points against kickers.  Won't affect my drafting strategy too much.

Yup, he really came out of his fantasy shell last year.  That Larry Johnson pick in the mid rounds was brilliant, not to mention his lateseason moves and roster changes/starting lineups for the playoffs.  Well done Dressel Jr., well done.

I'm a little late to this conversation, but I'm fine with the -1 for a missed field goal as well.  Anymore than that seems a little severe.  I'm not sure if I will be there for the entire draft tonight, but I'll just have to trust the prerankings beyond that - so no big deal.  Looking forward to it.
