I'm just about cloned out. I love army building, but the basic figures are getting too expensive to do too much. Plus there is the issue of displaying them all.

Now that is just me, and my army building is 90% focused on the OT. I am sure there are some big PT fans that would love to be able to amass large clone armies. I feel fortunate that OT troops only came in a handful of varieties, and that Hasbro has done almost all of them well and in decent quantity.

The clone army seems plagued by fashion designers and graffiti artists. I am sure Hasbro will continue to tap this unending source of wealth for some time to come.

My clone army is about 10x the size of my OT Army.  I must have 500 clones in a crazy clone attack dioramma vs. maybe 200 imperials at attention for the Emperor's shuttle landing.  For me, its been more about availability...when they make 2-3 new clones per wave and stack BPs full of them, you're almost forced to army build these guys.... :P

That being said, I'd spend my entire savings on a battle pack consisting os SA versions of Biker Scout, Snow Trooper, Stormtrooper, DS Trooper, AT-AT Driver, TIE Pilot, Imp Officer, etc.

I'm about clones out myself and I'm a HUGE army builder. Really after this years offerings (501st, Coruscant (grey), AOTC clones and officers), I won't really have the need, want or desire to build up any more armies.

Now I would like some more Stormies and I do plan on building up the Snowtrooper a little. But I REALLY dislike the specific soft goods skirt the Snowtrooper has.

This is definitely my last big year for army building. I promised myself and my fianceť that. Then it's less than two years from then and I'll stop collecting for the most part, with that scant new fig here or there. Heck I'll be 40 by then (2009), so I think it's time to stop collecting.

Not that I'll be done with SW. Heck no. I've got plans drawn up for several large scale dioramas. The plans are drawn, materials lists made, etc. Now it's just having the space and time to devote to building them.

An example of one of the dioramas planned is the Battle of Geonosis which will be encased in plexiglass and measure 8ft wide by 5ft tall and 4ft deep. This will "sit" on a rolling cabinet that will be 2 1/2 feet high and there will be a cap on the top for the lights which will be another 1-1 1/2 feet tall. Yes, it's going to be 8-9 ft tall when done. When completed it will house no less than 700 figures and about a dozen ships. I did said big.

I'm an Industrial and Graphic Designer by trade, so it's going to be top notch. I just am waiting until I'm done collecting to really devote that time to it. Besides at the moment I only have a two bedroom apartment and I'll be getting a house soon. So I can't really build this type of thing until then. It sucks too because I've had such an itch to make these for so long. I've talked about them on other message boards for a few years now. To be honest I think those folks are getting impatient as well, heh.

When finished they really will be something to see. I'm not talking simple dioramas either. No stickers. Everything will be hand/machine made, airbrushed, etc. Not that there is anything wrong with dioramas with stickers. Heck those are great and I applaud those who have even done those type of dioramas. Niubniub is a friend of mine and I hope that when I get started I can link his site to mine. I think both will be excellent companion sites to each other. I got the approval from LFL a few weeks ago to go ahead with my website and use of SW graphics. So once I can get on that, you folks will see those big dioramas being made as I go and then the final designs. The website itself though won't be up until later this year, when my work's busy season dies down. I'm hoping October.

Whew, sorry went off in a different direction there for a minute. I can be chatty at times.

Anyway, I guess one way to look at this is the more clones Hasbro makes depending on how you collect it either means more figs to get or more money saved. I think I'm finally in the latter category.

we need alot more clones! ;D

 >:( I am so sick of Clones! They are friggin' everywhere! I can't find a single Death Star Trooper in my area and they were in more of the movies than the stupid clones!
Hasbro, ball jointed heads suck! They make figures look like they've been hung by a noose. Please use neck ball joints like the late 80's GI Joes.

Oh, I've been going down the dark path for sometime now, lol. This year I'm way down on purchases. In a way it's been nice. I've picked up collecting Halo 3 figures, but there aren't many of them and that doesn't offset what I'm saving on SW.

Actually, not buying so much W has had the added benefit of having more money for gas and being able to take my fiancee out to dinner more often. Come July, I'll be going vehicle crazy though, so I'm totally gone, heh heh.

How are those dioramas going, Sal?

Right now they are all for the most part in the design phase. I've had plans I've draw up for some of them for a couple of years now. It's having the, space, and money is the problem. While I'm still actively collecting SW I can't really afford to build the dioramas as I want to.

Each of the big ones I want to do are large (8'long, 5'high. 4'deep). Those don't include cabinets on the bottoms of each and a lighting cabinet on top of them. Each of these dioramas is going to cost me about $3K to make. So for now, they are waiting to be done.

If things keep going as they have though with the line (moving towards animated) as well as repaints galore, then I may start building the dioramas next year. I'm not buying the animated line and I'm not big into repaints and much of the EU, so the money could very well be freed up next year to start making those dioramas.
