Found NFL 15 at TRU today, picked up the Lewis Chase and Westbrook.  I spent so much on Star Wars this morning that I left Young who is okay, and Peyton who I have an earlier version of.  Too much guilt to get the rest.

Benson I had no interest in, and Romo just looks kinda skinny and goofy.

Lewis and Westbrook are phenomenal figures in likeness and sculpt and Peyton is pretty sweet too.

MLB 20 pics

Utley and Sheffield look buyable.  Wang's likeness is completely wrong.  The other figs are just kinda blech unless you're a Sox fan and like Youkilis.

I like Youkilis but hate that pose for him.  It worked for Thome and Varitek, not so much for Youk.  Totally should have switched the Konerko and Youk poses.  For a repaint wave, it would have been the best option for both.

Finally getting anouther NY Jets figure, still no Joe Namath though  :-[

NFL Series 17
(due in stores August 2008)
Our NFL 17 lineup runs wild with four of the top running backs in the NFL, alongside Patriots receiver Andy Moss and Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers.
- Willie Parker - Pittsburgh Steelers
- Thomas Jones - New York Jets
- Reggie Bush 2 - New Orleans Saints
- Randy Moss 4 - New England Patriots
- Philip Rivers - San Diego Chargers
- Rudi Johnson - Cincinnati Bengals

I've finally seen a few pieces of NFL 15 in the stores, but nothing so exciting as to make me want to buy one of these figures.  The overall appeal for Sports Picks has somewhat diminished for me.  Plus I don't like the new clamshell design.  It seems like you're getting less for your money, even if it's just a more compact package and the figure size remains the same.

As for the NFL 15 lineup?  Riddle me this:  why yet another Peyton Manning in a passing pose?  This is perhaps the 4th Peyton Manning in a passing pose in a row that McFarlane has offered.  How about Peyton at the line of scrimmage calling an audible the way he does?  Now THAT would be a really interesting new figure.

Beyond that, the Ray Lewis figure is kind of cool.  It's not really my thing, but it captures the guy's essence when he makes his way onto the field.

I've managed to break free of buying variants just because I see them.  This line has suffered a substantial fall and they aren't even worth it as trade bait really.  I've left a couple of NBA Legends behind plus some NFL Legends as well.

It's interesting to observe the hockey stuff as well.  Those small (4 player) lineups and no variants aren't doing anything really.  It's been easy as can be to find everything lately.  Although from the perspective of Walmart, the figures are still selling well as you usually can't find that much hitting the sale aisle after the fact.

Now that I have my Hull in Jets uni, I'll wait and hope to find the Hawks Orr on clearance and then there's nothing I want out there from this line at all.

I'm happy to get something of a break on Sports Picks for the remainder of the year.  The only thing I'll be after is the NY Giants 3" team pack.  I saw the Earl "The Pearl" Monroe figure from the new NBA Legends, and while I know a little of the history of that team, I've never really been a Knicks fan.  I was more excited to see the Bill Russell figure, to be honest.

Todd McFarlane has something against the NJ Devils, so I know I won't be seeing any of them in the NHL lineup.  At least I can take it easy until the local MLB players start showing up next spring.  But then I'm a little curious to see what they're going to do with the Roger Maris-Mickey Mantle 2-pack in the Cooperstown series.

Oooh, a Twinkie that's a catcher.  Nice.  I might buy that one.

That's Joe Mauer. They got the sideburns right and everything.  :P

Are the Twins going to re-sign anyone of consequence or are they all going to the East coast?

I see pinstripes in Johan's future, no way the Twins are going to pay him $30 million/year.

Johan with Yankee run support.  He'll be the consencus #1 overall fantasy pick in 2009.

Nice to see Jorge Posada in a batting pose.  Especially since they made him without batting gloves.  He's old-school in that he's never worn them, and seeing attention to details like that is a nice touch.

NHL16 landed up here today.  I didn't score anything from that line.  I was at a store last night and saw a box on a skid but decided to be a decent person and not grab it to open it then.  I went back this morning first thing and they'd put out only one figure because, as they said, that's all they had room for ::)  They wouldn't get the box for me to check either so I politely said thanks and walked away.  Yeesh.

I did find a Luongo in retro Canucks jersey though today in the small town I work in.  Overpaid for it though but haven't seen one of those ever.
