Can a Prequel be a Sequel?
« on: May 27, 2003, 12:02 AM »
I read over at IMDB.com that TPM was voted worst sequel by the E! channel. Supposedly it got beat out by Batman & Robin, Speed 2 and Jaws: The Revenge.

Now my question is, can a prequel be considered a sequel??

...can a prequel be considered a sequel??

I don't think E1 falls into that catagory but E2 and three can be consider both if you want to get technical. ;D Jaws the Revenge!?!?! Someone's been hittin' the crack pipe a little too hard over there at E me thinks.

I wasn't too thrilled about it either. I mean NOTHING is worse than Batman & Robin.

Well, being one that ranks TPM at the bottom of my SW list all the time, I don't think it's fair.  TPM for a SW movie is not great, but that's after 3 years of reflection (4?).

TPM had me pumped beforehand, I was extremely excited.  I enjoyed the movie.  I thought Jake Lloyd was not a great choice, but hey, the kid pulled it off and was suitably petulant in the role, something that carried over into the next movie and what I feel is important for the role.  The Maul/Qui-Gon/Obi trifecta was wonderful.  The effects were grand.  It's only after reflection that I criticize the movie.

Let's see someone else fire up a movie/sequel 22 years after the original and make a great one.  Not bloody likely.
