So what license stops AA from making 3" Marvel figures?

Toy Biz is offering those dumbass, die-cast, 3-inch figures through Target. That's what kept AA from offering 'mates at the 3-inch size.

Pretty cool I guess...not too pumped on their endless Wolverine and Spideys

Saw an interesting post by an Interesting poster wondering aloud if Marvel is looking to get in the Block Figure game and might not renew the license on Minimates.

This whole scale thing is baffling

That is interesting Scott, that could certainly change some things.  I'm with you, I like Wolvie and all, but I'm not overly excited about those either.

On a different minimate note, how do those of you got the Sauron minimate feel about it?  I have been thinking about ordering it online (anyone know how much shipping is on it?), but haven't pulled the trigger yet.  I have been tempted by this line (and the regular LOTR line as well), and this would be a chance for me to actually get in at the beginning for once, instead of deciding half way through the line :P.  Anyways, just wondering what everyone thought of it...and aren't the TRU packs supposed to be coming in July-ish (at least I hope they will be at retail stores such as TRU, otherwise I doubt I'll jump on board)?

Edit:  Also, ActionFigureExpress seems to have Waves 1 and 2 up for preorder (although most probably already knew that).  These are the 2 packs though.  It looks like there should at least be 20 "different" figures to start with, which is nice.

WAVE 1 - Legolas & Gimli, Gandalf the White & King Theoden, Saruman & Wormtongue, Frodo & Uruk-Hai Swordsmen, and Aragorn & Uruk-Hai Berserker

WAVE 2 - Gollum & Samwise Gamgee, Boromir & Merry, Pippin & Uruk-Hai, Grishnakh & Orc Scout, and Twilight Frodo & Aragorn (Rivendale repaint)

The Sauron minimate is very nice and will pretty much tower over the rest, which I suppose it should.  The quality seems pretty good and the box is nice, though I'm surprised it wasn't a windowbox.  If you can afford it, pick it up.  If you change your mind on the line later, I think this is an item you could pretty easily get your money back from.

I read that, too. He's full of it. Don't believe a word he says.

Hey, how 'bout that Frank Miller Wolverine! That came out of left field, huh?

LOTR Minimates have been found in California, according to this report:

LOTR Minimates Found in California

These are the four packs, with three showing and one hidden figure.  The article does list who is in each of the two packs that were found (including hidden figures).

Just came out in California (at least the 5 packs did)  There is also a Sauron Minimate that was released a few weeks back at Tower.com...cool figures.  Can't wait for the 5 packs!

Nice looking, inexpensive display box, nice for Kubricks. But NO DAMN FOOT PEGS! ARGH!

Weirder though is what is displayed inside the box; mini Sony AIBOs:

I want a real Aibo!

Nice case. I like the "official" stacking ones better though. The price, 4 for 10 dollars, is just too high for the amount I need.
