My Cantina Comic *COMPLETE!*
« on: August 30, 2006, 12:57 PM »
OK. I posted this over at Rebelscum, but I figured that I'd share it with you guys as well. This is my first attempt at doing something like this. It's the results of playing with two new toys, my first digital camera and this thing that came bundled with my new iMac called ComicLife. I had fun playing around and here are the results! Enjoy!

UPDATE: 9/5/06 - Scene 3 Added!

Scene 1:

Scene 2:

Scene 3:

-----------------

So that's it, hope you guys enjoyed it. I certainly enjoyed making it!

I replied at RS, but let me comment again here.

I really think this looks FANTASTIC.  It really looks like a comic book come to life.

The layout, the picture quality, the lettering are first rate.  Bravo.

Because you are clearly a very creative and very visual person, I think you should let your imagination run wild and create an original story.

I know you said you were a stickler about backgrounds and such....

Well, head on over to niubniubsuniverse.com or erikstromtrooper gallery download some textures and make some dios!  They don't have to be super elaborate.

Use your cantina set, use the Jabba set, prowl the internet for more images, etc.

Your talent is CRYING OUT for an original photonovel, man!  Get cracking!!

heh heh... it's funny you should say that, i've got all those sites bookmarked and have a ton of backgrounds downloaded and printed out. Hell, i've been saving the Saga2 cardbacks because of the 'background' possibilities.

I've been thinking about making the foray into dioramas, the only thing keeping me from jumping into that fire has been space issues. I've got 40+ mini-scenes set up and it's a little overwhelming as it is. But it's something i've really been thinking about lately.

Awesomely gorgeous, as always!!!

I don't like the use of the brand new Tatooine wave Han.  Don't mind it for the "I don't have it with me" bit, since that's what his arm was sculpted to do, but I would have used him as little as possible and switched back to VOTC immediately.

but that is a minor nitpick.  This is friggin' GREAT!!!!

Now please go make an original photonovel!  I love your work!!!

Yeah, I totally know what you mean. I originally had switched back to the VOTC Han when the finger bits weren't there, but it looked really weird switching figures mid page like that. And when I used the VOTC han for the bits where he's holding up his fingers, it totally looked dumb. So I sucked it up and went for crappy cantina han for those 2 pages.

Oh, and I needed the VOTC Han to get the "leg" in there...

Loved it! Someone needs to make the whole OT in this exact (perfect) style.

You bring warm feelings to my heart with this OT tribute. :-*

That was freakin' awesome!  I totally wish I still had my Mac so that I could use the iComic software.  I'd never seen anything like that.  What a great way to retell a classic story!  I wonder how my photonovels would look in Comic book style.

man that was very well done. it looks really professional! your background scene's with all the cantina aliens is spot on with the movie and you positioning of the figures is great, epecially the han scene's where he's kicking his feet up before greedos end. the lighting was also well done, just enough to let you see the scene well, but darky and drury enought o let you know that it's a nasty, danky hole in the wall!

again man, great work, very impressive and as everyone else said, i'd definetley like to see you do an original story!

Not much to say except ...SPOT ON!  This is just incredible.  I have serious figure envy, when I look at  your collection  ;)
I love the comic book style, few PNs try it, and even fewer pull it off.  You definately make it work ... nice job!
