Yup. Some good action (car chase) and FX (the helicopter) but the plot was crap.

I would hope they go the way of 2010 and spend most of the movie explaining WTF the first movie was all about.

I hope they find the engineers and are killed instantly, then the engineers blow up Earth thus eliminating ALIEN and its sequels from the timeline.

More likely they'll make Noomi's character Ripley's mom or something awful.

I like Alien and Aliens.  :'(  No more Hudson saying: "Game over!"

But I get what you're saying... reboot ala Star Trek

I like them, too. That's why they need to be divorced from Prometheus before more prequels ruin them!  ;)

Not sure if this is the right place for this but does anyone follow Kickstarter?  I was looking today and saw they raised over $2 million dollars in one day to fund a Veronica Mars movie.

Saw 'Obvlivion' last night and about the only thing good about it was the fact that I got to see the new Star Trek: Into Darkness trailer on the big screen.

The movie was a horrible mixture of themes and concepts stolen from a bunch of other science fiction all while trying to have the same kind of plot twist that the works of Philip K. Dick are known for, only problem was that it fell WAY short of even being good or thought provoking.

Lots of close-ups of Tom Cruise in the movie too - must have either been a way for them to keep the budget down or he probably had it stipulated in his contract that they had to spend 80% of the movie focused on his face.

About the only thing redeeming about the movie was that Olga Kurylenko and Andrea Riseborough are easy on the eyes.

Saw it as well, couldn't find anything redeeming about it. Was pretty terrible.

Sorry to hear about that (re: Oblivion).  I was kind of excited about it, though from the trailers I saw I think I figured out the twist, etc.

Bummer to hear - I was looking forward to that one.   :-\

A Cruise movie is typically pretty fun and mindless. I wasn't expecting high sci-fi. However I think the Wil Smith After Earth looks like fun.

That's the thing with Sci-fi movies.  It's hit or miss... awesome or suck.
