My Mara Jade bust from JuvyD (Jim) arrived today ;D  Jim doesn't post much here, but goes by the same username at most sites I believe and if you get a chance to trade with him, worry not.

The bust is really nicely done and I'm very happy to have it.  I think it's 1709/2000 for the number and that makes 3/3 on the hard to get stuff for the year thanks to some luck on the BHS bust online and then Darth Slothus with the SDCC shock trooper.  Good year for me thanks to some friends.

Well I thought I had a great thing going: Last week, I took a look at Barnes & Nobles website to see if they had any GG mini busts in stock. To my surpise they put up one of these for $45:

STAR WARS MINI BUST YODA

I guess they found one in the stockroom because after I added it to my cart it was sold out. I was a little skeptical since this piece was put out in 2002 but the listing had the AOTC photo and description straight from GG's site. I figured what the heck, i'll try it anyways. Turns out if something looks too good to be true that it is. When the box got here it was in fact the ESB version. Oh well, back to BN it goes. It's nice to dream though....

GOOD GOLLY MISS MOLLY !!!
The problem with America is stupidity I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself

That's a pretty good looking statue/bust, but I hope they make his robe a little more "worn" looking, that thing looks like a leather trenchcoat in the photo.

Looks like Obi-Wan is officially up on Gentle Giant's site now, estimated release of May 2007.  I'd really like to pick this one up as well, it looks great.  So far, the only mini bust I have is the Han (which was cheapo at Amazon during those clearances), and I also have a Chewie on the way.  I'm really thinking I'd like to see if I could clear up the cash to pick up a few more of these eventually, trying to get a version of some/most of the main characters.  Maybe that Jedi Luke that's coming up, and see if I can find a good deal of Yoda/Vader/3PO that are already released.  Might be out of luck on the Stormtrooper, but that's my ongoing fault of getting into lines too late.  We'll see, I'll add Chewie and go from there.  They sure do look nice though, this Obi-Wan in particular is spifftastic.

Might be out of luck on the Stormtrooper

Sandtroopers are still going for relatively cheap if you don't mnd one of those instead.

For those of you who do preorders, do you do them directly through Gentle Giant - or is there somewhere else that is best to go?  I've never ordered one aside from Han, as I mentioned, so I wasn't sure where the best bet was for the mini busts.

Most Wanted Collectibles, Razors Edge Collectibles and Tales of Wonder all do preorders.

Gentle Giant only carries stuff that's in stock. Usually when you preorder them you can get them for under retail which is nice.

Going back in time but.... do any of you guys recall if the chrome stormtrooper came with a COA?  I sold my spare to a buddy and he didn't find one in the box so he's curious.  I'm about 90% sure, but can't recall.
