I actually contemplated trying to get some sponsors after I saw the prizes one would get....but I doubt I could compete with the Rebelscum machine.

However....it made for an interesting question.  What if someone else did run?  Could they promote their campaign on RS?  I know someone "from JD" probably couldn't....but what if I did?   

Everyone knows I love that site.  So if I "ran" (and I'm only being hypothetical here), would I get in trouble for mentioning it at Rebelscum?

There would be the ultimate hypocrisy if (even a JD member) couldn't mention their candidacy for the SW.com fan club president position.  That person wouldn't be advertising JD, they'd be advertising themselves.

I'm sure they wouldn't welcome it with open arms. Afterall, Dustin's more or less running as Rebelscum.

Philip just answered my question about whether or not I'd be allowed to in the affirmative.

That sort of puts this whole thing to bed for me. 

I don't think it's misuse of Rebelscum to assist Dustin (a loyal staff member) in winning that election.  Philip is simply pimping his friend's campaign and I can't fault him for that.  Especially after he said another forum member running wouldn't be breaking any rules either.


Seems like it's all in fun after all.

My favorite part is the fact that the "Join or renew here" link in his newspost is not a link to the Hyperspace sign-up page at the Official Site.

It's a link to the Hyperspace sign up via ShopStarWars.  That way, he can use his ad referral code to make sure that he gets a cut of your $40 subscription fee for himself.  Savvy marketing once again...

There is no fun in anything at RebelScum. Dustin is running for RebelScum and TheForce.net. Period. Dustin isn't just Dustin, he is Dustin of RebelScum and TF.N. This is purely a promotion for RebelScum, and they are using Dustin as their frontman. The "RebelScum machine" (::)) has what, 4 subscriptions... WOW.  ::)
