Working with Acrylic....?
« on: October 28, 2006, 01:27 AM »
Anyone ever drill acrylic? It seems like a brittle plastic. I'm wondering if I can drill peg holes for Ultarama pegs in these shelves without destroying them?

Hm, never had the pleasure of owning acrylic displays, let alone drilling holes in 'em. But if you think it's not the sturdiest material around, I'd use a very small drill at first (the kind you use for drilling in metal) and drill at a high speed.

Perhaps you could also ask Potomac if it's safe to drill these displays?

Don't Use High Speed It Will Melt The Acrylic,  I've Always Drilled Holes By Hand  But If You Use a Drill Use The Lowest Speed You Have. or Use A Dremel on Low. I Also Use A Bradpoint Or Diamond Coated Bit Too. You Can Drill It. I've Drilled Acrylic Rods I Use For Lightsabers.  If You Any Help PM Me and I'll Try to Help You Out.
