It comes out in March and looks to be all kinds of kickass.

It seems to be greatly anticipated among comic/movie geek circles (the AICN demographic basically)--but the Society of Ancient History at my college (of which I am a member ) is also very excited for this film.

I'm a little worried it's going to be two hours of slow motion and people yelling "Sparta".

I'm really excited about this one.  Sin City was okay - but I think it was more of a test run for this type of graphic-novel-movie.

Hopefully it lives up to this new trailer - the effects are gorgeous.

I can't view the trailers from here..I saw one at the theatre though...It looked good when I saw the behemoth creatures in the end(behemoth creatures = my type of movie..see SW,LOTR,narnia ect.)

So, seeing those creatures, is this supposed to be in our history based or another time another place/world? That just so happens to have Greece, Roman warriors similarities??!

Color me interested anyhew.

It's inspired by an actual battle that was recorded by Herodotus: the Battle of Thermopylae. But the film itself is based on a comic book by Frank Miller, which takes liberties with the history (or so I'm told--I haven't read it).

Basically the film abandoned the "this is the true story" pretensions of most sword-and-sandal flicks, and is just going for stuff that looks nifty and super-badass (i.e., behemoth creatures). Which is fine by me. 8)

Four new UK posters

The overblown text turned them cheesy and middle-schoolish ("Thirsty for Spartan blood"?? Give me a break ::)), but it is what it is. The first one's decent, and the second one will presumably make more sense once the line is in context.

Pretty hilarious review sent in to AICN

Quote
The movie takes place about a million years ago, and it’s sort of like a prequel to SIN CITY. Except way less guns and cars but twice as much skull splitting. If you watch this movie and go into a Taco Bell, and say to the cashier, “I need some extra sauce packets” guess what? You’re getting twenty sauce packets because your face will punch him in the brain.

I can’t spoil the plot because THANK GOD THERE ISN’T ONE. Just ass kicking that kicks ass that, while said ass is getting kicked, is kicking yet more ass that’s hitting someone’s balls with a hammer made of ice but the ice is frozen whiskey.

I've read that statement three times and I still can't make any sense of it.

This sticker is dangerous and inconvenient, but I do love Fig Newtons.

I think what it means is that you'll be so amped up after seeing the movie, your very demeanor will scare the Taco Bell cashier into oversupplying your requests. 300 + you = badass, apparently. ;D

The closer we get to this film the more excited I get.  I'm really looking forward to seeing it.
