That's funny because I also saw those auctions and was wondering the same thing.  I'll still bet that the snowtrooper goes over $40 even without the weapon.

The one Snowtrooper went for $78, even without the weapon...

The weapon shouldn't really affect the price. The snowtrooper has a standard blaster which you can get from any of the cheaper imperial soldiers (tie pilot, ds trooper, ds gunner etc).

 The guy has a 99.8 feedback rating with 3800 transactions. They look like knockoffs to me also. How does that happen with a seller with those kind of stats?

My understanding is that they are extremely well done.  I don't have any hints other than to tell you I didn't buy one until I knew the seller personally (well, through this board anyway) and could be sure it wasn't a scam.  Way too many of them out there.
