Don't forget your Minnesota shuttle  ;)  Of course, I offset that for you personally by buying a bunch of your kubricks (see my own tally on page 1)

Oh trust me, I haven't forgotten!  Since my wife paid for it because it was technically a Christmas present, I didn't include it in the total money spent.  :) :)

I didn't buy a single figure this past month in a major retail store. It's been a Comic Shop/Online month for me. That will probably change next month once the 30AC figs start hitting...

Let's see...

January = $53.91

February = $108.14

Year to Date Total = $162.05

Stuff I bought the past month:
2006 Saga Coruscant Wave (1 opener)
2006 Saga Final 22 [aka Wave 9] (8 carded and 6 openers)
2006 Saga Wal Mart Wave (5 carded and 2 openers)
Star Wars Galactic Hereos 2-Packs (4 openers)

I picked up 22 figures (13 carded, 9 openers) and 4 new GH 2-packs, so it was a busy Hasbro month, but I still came out pretty well for the month thanks to the continuing purge of old crap.  Eventually though I'm going to run out of old stuff to sell...  :-\

March should see the arrival of 16-20 30AC figures, but hopefully I can keep things around the $100 monthly budget...

A little spendier this month...

February Total=84.02

I picked up 8 figures from the "Final 22", 1 Galactic Heroes 2 pack, and 1 white deco TIE fighter.  Aside from any extras (Elite Corps/Appo) that I might happen to find, the rest of that new GH wave, and a Tantive BP, I'm caught up until the 30th AC starts hitting (hopefully this month).

Jeff, when you sell something from your collection do you subtract that from what you spent? I haven't had a chance yet but I may be unloading some stuff starting this month and I want to keep my totals accurate...

That's generally the rule.  I never bothered with doing so as it's more fun to see what you actually spend in total, if only to shock oneself.  I think subtracting what you make on the side from liquidating toys is totally fine though.  If I ever thin out my collection, I won't be spending any money anymore ;)

Ahh thanks for the clarification. I didn't subtract last year even though I sold probably double what I spent. Maybe this year i'll subtract and see how it evens out...

I subtract the old stuff I sell, because I see it the same way I see a trade.  I get rid of an old item and get something in return for it.

I'm trading old stuff for money, and then I trade that money for new toys.  I do only deduct the cash for selling stuff IF I use that cash to buy something.  If the cash from selling old stuff is used for something else, then I do not count it.

I stopped counting at the beginning of 2007. I'm not sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing....but it's all I could do to take my mind off the fact that I spend too much on Star Wars stuff.

Has anyone else quit counting?  Or has the counting changed anyone's habits?  I haven't visited this thread in a long time....but it's a question I've had on my mind every time I DON'T tally something up now.

I have to say that I'm one of the people who has been keeping track that has taken something from the past couple years.  I can't believe how much I spend in the course of the year, and I'm doing my best to cut it back considerably this year.  I even stay away from the majority of the higher end stuff, and I know my totals are towards the low end in this thread too usually, but for us - its still too much.  With a wee one on the way this year too, things will have to cut back even more I'm thinking.  I really enjoy collecting, and there is so much more that I'd like to collect, but it is heading towards being scaled down to just my absolute favorite (and cheapest) things.

After posting in this thread the other night, despite my better judgement, I went back and caught myself up to present day (with credit card receipts and my Rebelscum PM, it wasn't that hard).  Turns out I have about half as much from Jan-March of this year as I did in the entire year of 2004.  I thought about it for a moment and then decided to tell my wife, who shook her head at me.

SO....right now, I'm not exactly enjoying this whole "collector's challenge" thing....but I am once again a participant.   ;D

Mine does that right after rolling her eyes.  ;)  But at least this year I'm making an effort to sell extra things to bring my overall expenses down.
