Sideshow 12" Scale Dejarik Table
« on: January 30, 2007, 02:43 PM »
Wait til you see their next announcement...

I've already quit collecting 12" Sideshow figures because of their character selection.  Too many head / accessory swaps and not enough focus on core characters.  And their 'deal' with Medicom is bull****.  It's just an excuse to not do the characters we want at an affordable price.

Their next release will leave you scratching your head in disarray...

I assume this refers to what is supposedly pictured in a popular toy magazine?

Yep, and it's fo' real.

1/6 scale chess board with mini figures.

That's it...nothing else with it.

I'm impressed to say the least, we now have a 1/6 scale chess board to go with, hmm let's see, our 12" Hasbro Chewbacca!  Great use of tooling investment Sideshow!   :-*

Have you seen the pic?  Just asking, no body has produced one yet that I've seen.

Who's to say that a 1/6th Sideshow Chewbacca (or R2 for that matter) isn't coming?  I'd almost expect them now - what's a chess board with no one to play it?  It could be something similar to Maul's probe droids - a nice companion piece if you want to buy it.

I hope you're right, but don't you think the figure should come before the accessory?

Sure I do, but Sideshow could be holding out for Toy Fair for the big reveal.  This is just a teaser.

I like it, but there has to be more to it.  It doesn't make sense to release this with no figures.

Maybe the table is part of a "creature pack" style offering from SSC, an environment set of sorts.

Imagine a 1:6 Falcon cockpit or gunner station.  ;D

Crap, I hope the chess board actually comes with a figure.  I'm really getting annoyed with the $35-40 expansion sets.

Hmm-I'm not sure if I'd buy it even if they make a fully jointed C-3PO and Chewbacca.  It's always easier for me to pass on items I can see first hand. ;)

Geez, am I the only one who likes this set?  This is an item that collectors have wanted for quite some time and the only thing we have seen made is the 3 3/4" version that came with the Chewie figure.  I think people need to give this some time before they get all bent out of shape about it not coming with figures.  There has already been cease and desist letters sent out about posting the picture.

As for the medicom thing...they are outside the US and thus can make those figures without infringing on Sideshows license for 12" figures.  You can almost guarentee that Sideshow will do these figures at some point.  When Sideshow annouced the 12" line, I believe they stated they would do six lines of figures.  Currently we have Jedi, Sith, Scum & Villiany, Heros of the Rebellion, and Military.  Military could cover clones and stormtroopers.  Scum could cover Boba and Jango Fett.  I would guess the last line could be droids.

I guess I see it the other way, why spend the money to tool them when you can sell and make money off of the Medicom versions?

As of right now, it's just that - a stand alone accessory pack.  No figure.
