The latest Rolling Stone says that Rage is touring, and I'm ecstatic. They were hands down my favorite band for the better part of my adolescence. I named my son after Zack (my wife wouldn't let me go with "Che" or "Ernesto"). The Coachella reunion was billed as a one-off before Zack and the guys settled their differences, so they may wait until afterward to "officially" announce it.
I didn't mind Audioslave, but I only bought the first CD. There are some good tracks, but nothing with anywhere near the power of Rage. I'm excited as hell to see them again. The first time I saw them was at Lollapalooza '93, where they were the first band. Nobody had really heard of them yet, and they completely tore the place apart. I was totally sold after that.
I also saw Soundgarden, but it was in a lousy venue and I had lousy seats. That's a reunion that won't likely, or at least properly, happen, since Matt Cameron is happily drumming for Pearl Jam.
Now, if Pearl Jam and Soundgarden did a combined tour forcing Matt to work overtime...that might be interesting....
But still, the Rage reunion is the highlight of this news piece.
