Chris Cornell quits Audioslave amid conflicts..

..and by conflicts, I mean Rage Against The Machine reunion tour. I hope. Anyway.

I think Rage will tour...fingers crossed on that one.

The article says Cornell has a solo album coming out soon...how about a Soundgarden reunion?
This is the way.

I have spoken.

Didn't Rage already announce that they were?

I never really cared for Rage after the 1st album. Now Soundgarden I would like to see get back together...

I don't usually give a turd about reunion shows, but Soundgarden is one I would love to see.  They've always been one of my favorites, and it pained me to know I never got to see them live before they split.  Unfortunately though, Cornell's voice isn't nearly what it once was so some of the old SG tunes might not be delivered with the same power.

Personally, I can't get into Audioslave.  It's more or less Rage Against the Machine with a different singer.  The only thing that have up on RatM is that the singer doesn't sound like he's spitting everywhere.  :)  I find Tom Morello's riffs somewhat boring and too similar to each other, and couple that with the fact that the bass often doubles the guitar, the music gets tired pretty fast.  That being said, there are a couple of songs I really like (Last Remaining Light, Shadow on the Sun) and a few others that are listenable, but overall I've been pretty unimpressed.

I've got every Rage album but never got into Chris Cornell taking over for Zach.  Since Zach left, I haven't heard much of his solo **** but I did catch that Iraq song he released online and while I liked the tune, I disagree with him politically BIG time.  If I boycotted every liberal in the music industry and Hollywood, I wouldn't ever see any movies or listen to any music.  Plus Zach isn't your run of the mill yay Socialism! yay tax the hell out of the "rich"! boo war and damn the war on terror! liberal, he seems more concerned about Mexican rights.  And he did love to attack Gore and Clinton back in the day, but hates Bush too.  But even at that, I will buy more RATM albums if Zach makes more with the old crew.  Hands down the best albums to pump iron to.

I would love to see them both reunite, SG and RatM.  I never got to see RatM in concert when they were together but saw SG a ton of times.  There are very few songs that I really like from Audioslave, but on the whole they are a welcome retreat from some of the more popular bands these days.

Hands down the best albums to pump iron to.

I second that!

Really?  If that means no more warmed over crap, I mean Audioslave albums, I'm fine with that.  I'd definitely consider that band a musical failure from a creative standpoint.  Especially considering the credentials of all involved.  Chris Cornell sounded much better with Soundgarden.

yup... audioslave sucked.  i would love to see RATM get back together.  i don't remember them ever doing a regular tour thru dallas during their hey day, so they are one of the big bands that i never got to see.

i did see soundgarden on the superunknown tour.  i wish i had seen them eariler cuz they were a bit past their prime and sucked live.  cornell seemed completely disinterested and the set list included way too many of their slow boring songs.  if that is what we would get from a soundgarden reunion i would leave them broken up.

Didn't Rage already announce that they were?

Their "official" reunion is going to be at Coachella. So I can see them touring after that.
I remember my dream now.

The latest Rolling Stone says that Rage is touring, and I'm ecstatic.  They were hands down my favorite band for the better part of my adolescence.  I named my son after Zack (my wife wouldn't let me go with "Che" or "Ernesto").  The Coachella reunion was billed as a one-off before Zack and the guys settled their differences, so they may wait until afterward to "officially" announce it.

I didn't mind Audioslave, but I only bought the first CD.  There are some good tracks, but nothing with anywhere near the power of Rage.  I'm excited as hell to see them again.  The first time I saw them was at Lollapalooza '93, where they were the first band.  Nobody had really heard of them yet, and they completely tore the place apart.  I was totally sold after that.

I also saw Soundgarden, but it was in a lousy venue and I had lousy seats.  That's a reunion that won't likely, or at least properly, happen, since Matt Cameron is happily drumming for Pearl Jam.

Now, if Pearl Jam and Soundgarden did a combined tour forcing Matt to work overtime...that might be interesting....

But still, the Rage reunion is the highlight of this news piece.

That doesn't mean he couldn't briefly reunite with Soundgarden for a one-off show at a festival or a mini-tour or something, during PJ's downtime.  I don't think PJ would mind--and maybe in return, they could even work out a deal with Cornell to do Temple of the Dog, Mark II. . .   :o

It'd be rad if Soundgarden reunited but got Dave Abrussezzeeasszzee to be their drummer.

I just ran across this thread... missed the news while I was out of town.

I hope Rage gets back together - I never got a chance to see them live and when I heard about Cochella, I thought about trying to make it out - but it just isn't happening this year.
