New 30th Anni Series from Topps
« on: April 21, 2007, 10:48 PM »
I recall reading on a recent SW.com email that there was going to be a TAC trading card series, but when I went to Topps' homepage, no news about it. Anyone know anything more? Is it going to be like Heritage?

Thanks, Jay... You're the man! Too bad the artist cards aren't focused more on original art by Ralph or Joe... to keep in line with Hasbro's (yeah separate company) theme of concept figs!

quote:
"The set includes 120 base cards spanning all six movies, TV movies and appearances, deleted scenes, fan films and some other little treats," Topps Editor David Waldeck reveals.

Wow! Deleted scenes, the Ewok adventures... possibly cards from the Christmas show??  :o

In case you hadn't heard, Harrison Ford purportedly signed for this set.

I am THOROUGHLY pissed right now....
I was in Target tonight and found a few boxes of Topps 30AV trading card sets- it was labeled Bonus Box- full box trading cards- 7 packs plus 1 extra pack 7 cards per pack for 56 cards per box. Also talks about the special inserts- magnets, animation cel, puzzle cards. Retailed for 20.

I bought 4 of them.
I ended up with 5 different magnets, 11 puzzle cards (some dupes), 4 animation cells, 3 blue foils and 1 red foil. That's 24 cards and seems like a decent set of extra cards.  So we've got 200 cards left. ALL OF THEM were between 101-120. ALL OF THEM! So now, after spending $80, I have (on average) 10 cards of everything from 101-120.

That's ridiculous!  Out of set of only 120 (plus bonus) different cards, the sampling I have of 224 (200) cards yields a result of less than 10% of the possible cards? What the Force am I going to do with 9 extra copies of 101-120? Looks like another scathing email needs to be sent to Topps!

Anyone else had any distribution problems?

Jeff

Not in the sense you are having, Jeff. My local comic shop had some in and a couple guys here let me know they were in... the last report said only one box was in. I called before I headed over and they were out. The manager said he was surprised by how quick they went and was going to talk to the distributor about getting more and would get back to me. I have yet to hear anything back.

Anyone need a set of 101-120?  I've got nine of them........

I haven't really been keeping up with these, but stumbled upon this thread today.  I've always enjoyed card collecting (the vintage Star Wars ones in particular), and these look like they might be kind of a neat set.  What does everyone here think of these?  Are they still available at Target (or WM/TRU/etc.)?  I kind of got out of the card collecting game when the price per pack got so high, but I might try to pick up a few of these if I can afford it.
