Are you red/green color blind by any chance?   :P

I did pick a date: Wed Jul 18 8:30pm CDT.  Obviously that's early.

The first game is September 6 with the bulk of the games on September 9th.

So the 18th is early, at least in July.  I changed it to the following:

Wednesday August 29 8:30pm CDT

That's pretty close to the start of the season, so we should have an idea of who has roster spots on most teams by that time.   Mid-week so as not to interrupt those of you who have lives and prior to the long weekend as well.

As for the playoffs being moved back, it doesn't bother me so long as we figure that out before the draft because it isn't changing after.  I'm not opposed to leaving it as it is though, I think that makes the draft more fair for guys that pick later.  First pick is getting LT, no doubt about that.  He's also probably sitting in week 17, so it makes it more challenging and I personally think that adds to the game, not detracts from it.  You need to manage your team for the entire period, not just thump guys all season long then have no one in the playoffs.  Happened to me two years ago in the Spawn league when I had LT and I paid the price, but it was fair.

So:

Date - yes, no, suggestions?
Regular season - 1-13 or 1-14?

Vote please, this is a democracy until I say otherwise. 8)  I abstain until my vote is necessary to break a tie, no other abstentions allowed.

Dressel's vote:

Date - Yes
Regular Season - 1 to 13, playoffs 14 to 16.

2 reasons:

1.  With 1 less regular season games, it makes them a little more meaningful and intense.

2.  It ain't just LT who sits in Week 17.  Most of us shoot for good players on good offenses.  Most of those teams are not waiting for week 17 to clinch playoff spots.  Last year I had the threat of almost all of my RB's and WR's sitting for the championship game.  That's not a reflection of the team that got you there, when you're forced into competing for a title with a bunch of 3rd and 4th string players.  I think you should have the opportunity to contend for the championship with the team that got you to the playoffs, not a bunch of hail mary week 17 free agent waiver wire pickups.

Then draft smarter :-*

As I said, I ran into previously in another league.  I was second overall, only losing once to the guy who beat me by 1 point in the regular season.  I had tons of guys sitting and lost the first round.  Go figure.  It's part of the game and we have to deal with it.  How we deal with it is what's being voted on.  If other guys are more comfortable with the regular setting for playoffs, we'll have to live with that.

I'm not disagreeing with you, just pointing out another side by playing devil's advocate.  I could care less which way it goes, other than maybe pissing you off for the sheer entertainment value ;)  By the time those weeks roll around I'm already bored with football and paying attention to hockey.  I am Canadian, after all.

Hey, I won.  So obviously it wasn't that big of a problem.  I'm just saying, it should be the team that got you there.

Isn't the default 14 to 16 anyhow?  I know it is when you sign up for a public Yahoo league.

I dunno what the default is, I was given the option of using last year's JD settings and did so.

And you wouldn't have won if I hadn't gone to Hawaii.

I'm going to vote 1-14 for the season.

a)  Because I won a championship that way
b)  Because it means one more week of fantasy football to enjoy

But either scenario is fine with me.

You also lost that way.

Badly.

Although I guess it didn't have much to do with the playoffs last season.

Yeah.  It's truly pathetic that I just can't win every single sport every single year like you, your highness.

Don't get all pissy on us just because I didn't vote your way.  The season's a long ways off.

Need one more team to cap it at 10.

Three weeks-ish to the draft, any comments on points need to be filed and changes made prior, otherwise they are left as set for the season. Majority vote to make changes please.

You didn't think you could have the league without me did you?  >:(

The league settings say it is capped at 12 teams.  The girlfriend's dad wants to play in our league and I'd love to include him.

Any objection to him signing up?

We still have one slot available - and if you guys intended it to be a 10 team league, would anyone object to adding 2 more teams?

If we intend to have a 3 round playoff tournament with no byes, I think we're going to need 12 teams, unless we'd have a 10 team league where all but 2 teams makes the playoffs.  That makes the regular season kinda insignificant.

With 12 teams, 4 teams wouldn't make the playoffs and you'd really have to fight in the regular season.

I say make it 12, and bring Pops in.

He's signed up.

Anyone have anyone else in mind?  I'll start asking around if we don't...
