Pay attention to the opening title credits.  They were done by several co-workers and I at Reel FX Creative Studios.  I animated roughly the first half of it, and a few cards in the second half.  It's the first time I've had the opportunity to work on something that has a major theatrical release.

I can't say if the movie will be great or not, but if you make it all the way through to the closing credits, I was responsible for those too - even though they're not as big a deal as the opening.

Anyway, we're pretty proud of the opening, so I thought I'd toot my own horn and share.

Thanks in advance.

Funnily enough I just streamed the trailer earlier this afternoon. Frankly I probably won't see the film, but congrats anyway ... and I don't mean that in a sarcastic manner either. :)

Very cool Rob. I'm sure my wife and I will see it, so I'll be sure to "drop" your name when we're there  ;)

Thanks - if you make it through the credits, we're in there towards the back with all the effects companies.   8)

Very cool Rob. :) So I take it this was the huge project you were working on towards the end of July and begining of August?

Thanks!

We're starting to get some press too!

Film Journal:

The gorgeous, kinetic opening credits feature an animated brilliance and sense of humor (“Supposedly a film by Zach Helm”) ....

Real Movie News:

You know exactly what kind of film Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium is going to be as soon as the opening credits begin to bounce around—at least for the most part. This opening sequence is playful and enjoyable to observe, much like older children’s films. It’s nice to see someone having fun with a title sequence rather than thinking there’s a strict format to comply with. This opening puts the viewer in the right state of mind for the events about to unfold.

MSNBC:

Heck, even the opening and closing credits are charming and fun to watch.

MoviePulse.net:

Deceptively opening with Pixar-esque cutout animation during its credits

Catholic Online:

Alexandre Desplat's music is a plus; the lively opening credits and production design are appropriately colorful

The titles were neat, but Emporium was misspelled!

Congrats Rob! Thats awesome.
So Is it a CGI animation or more of a cartooning style?

It's graphic, heavy on the design - Saul Bass inspired.  Almost all of the animation is 2D, done in After Effects - but not cartoon style really.  Some of the elements were done in 3D and composited in like the Paper Airplane, hands, and Bouncing Ball.  We should have the credits on our company's website soon too (we haven't been allowed to show them yet) and once that happens I'll link that here.

I didn't type it up, I just made it move. :)

Although, after it was done I did a French version for the Canadian DVD release - there could be all sorts of misspelled stuff in there and I wouldn't have any idea.

I'm sure someone proof read it... :D
