Warner Bros. has officialls confirmed the title, and the rumored casting, for the next Batman movie.  It will be called The Dark Knight, and Heath Ledger will indeed be playing the Joker.  More details at SuperHeroHype.  Sounds like it is a likely 2008 release.

Wow, very interesting.

Don't know if I can picture Heath as the Joker, but I guess we'll have to wait and see some make-up shots to see how they pull it off...  :)

Awesome news!

Batman Begins is at the very top of my favorite comic book movie list.  I don't know who I feel about Ledger being cast as the Joker but I'll give him a chance.

I think Heath Ledger can pull off the Joker, of course I won't even try to compare him to Nicholson...that would just be unfair.

Another cast member joins The Dark Knight, as it has been reported that Aaron Eckhart has been cast as Harvey Dent (future Two Face).  It is also rumored that Maggie Gyllenhaal is in final negotiations to take over the Rachel Dawes role from Katie Holmes.

SuperHeroHype has some pics from the Dark Knight set sort of showing Heath Ledger as the joker.  It doesn't look as if he's in full Joker make-up/gear, but he does appear to have greenish hair.

That pic is creepy and disturbing.  And I love it.  Initially I had misgivings about Ledger as the Joker - not that's he's a horrible actor, I actually enjoy his work - but I just didn't see him as the twisted disturbed sadistic Clown Prince of Crime.  That might change after seeing the pic.  I need to hear Ledger do Joker's cackle first, but so far so good.

You can actually see Ledger in that pic and it looks like he took a bullet through the jaw, hence the scarring.  Wonder if that event lead to his taking on the Joker persona?  Definitely looking forward to this movie.

Common sense isn't so common

I have my doubts for him as the Joker, but that looks pretty good.

That's exactly what I thought when I saw it Mikey.  Definitely a creepy look.  I want to see how Ledger handles the Joker's cackle and grin too, but things are shaping up nicely, I'm looking forward to it.

Wow, I can't wait to see more...

I also see over there they have a report that Anthony Michael Hall has joined the Dark Knight cast.  We watch The Dead Zone on USA from time-to-time, so I am interested in seeing what they do with him.  Were there rumors of another villian out there?  Or is he going to end up as a GCPD officer or something?

For some reason, I'm very optimistic about the movie. It's a great cast (Bale, Freeman, Caine, Oldman, Ledger, Eckhart), so let's hope the actual story/script is good too.  :)

I think he steals Rachel Dawes' panties and charges the other supervillians a dollar to see them.

This sticker is dangerous and inconvenient, but I do love Fig Newtons.

http://www.ibelieveinharveydenttoo.com/ the image is down, but now if you go there and Highlight the page, a bunch of "HaHaHAHA" and letters are there. String the letters together and you get "See You In December"...

Creepy.
