Kind of in-line with the Dark Knight discussion, but I noticed that TIME Magazine released their "Top 10" movies of 2008 (along with other lists) - and the Dark Knight wasn't included.  Whatever your opinion of the movie, that seems almost blasphemous due to both the huge box office and positive critical acclaim of the movie.  It was certainly the most "buzz-worthy" movie of the year, so I can't see it not being included somewhere.  As a side note, Iron Man was the only "comic" movie on the list (#8), and Wall-E was #1.  See the top 10 at the linky.

I read two different top 10 lists for 2008 movies on EW.com today.  Both had TDK and Iron Man, both also had WALL-E.  Other than that, the lists were mostly crap I've never heard of and would never bother to seek out and watch.

I just recently saw Iron Man, saw TDK in the theaters. I really liked the darkness of the Batman movies, but that's just me. I'm not raving "It's the best thing since..." because the Hong Kong detour was lengthy and didn't add too much (should watch it again to make sure I'm making a correct statement) value to the movie.

My problem with Iron Man is that the final battle was much like Transformers... battling in the streets, throwing cars, bad guys having no regard for human life and making the good guy sacrifice his body to save them until he is near death, only to kill off the baddy with one last burst of adrenaline. Oh, wasn't the Hulk like that, too? I don't want every comic book movie to be formulaic like that.

Agreed on that point.  I liked her in Stranger Than Fiction but I think she was poorly cast in TDK.

MG was terrible.  She looks like a lump of melted butter, and her indie queen starlet attitude was off-putting.  Since they obviously can't score a win with casting the character, I'm glad that what happened happened.

I'm still not sure who looked more like a clown: the Joker or Maggie Gyllenhaal? They could've had Gyllenhaal play the Joker... would've saved them on make-up costs.

Maggie was not the best I agree but a step up from Katie Holmes Cruise in my opinion.  Katie just annoys me with all the different facial expresions she makes within a 3 second period of time.   Been like that since Dawson's Creek.

The Dark Knight Re-Release IMAX Locations

Nice.  Glad to see the local IMAX is re-airing it.  Definitely want to catch it again in IMAX.

Ledger wins best supporting actor.  :)

Well deserved.  It would have been amazing for him to have actually been there to receive it.   :(

It's great that he won.  But let's be honest, if he were alive, he probably wouldn't have won this.  No matter how good, you don't win individual awards for comic book or scifi/fantasy movies (exception; Don Ameche for Cocoon).
