Tim Burton's weren't thaaaaat comic-booky.  I mean, compared to the new batch, sure, but for 1989 when Burton's Batman came out, it was a pretty realistic, dark take on the character.  I still very much like that movie.

I'll agree with the first two were not as comic-booky as the last two (although only the first was really all that good), but they definitely got comic-booky in a hurry.  I guess I'm just a fan of the more realistic style.

Well, we can blame the comic book style on Joel Schmacher... Burton's were way better since they were dark.

The second one with Catwoman and the Penguin sucked.
This is the way.

It's interesting how movies are returning to the realistic dark undertones that were made back in the '70s. Some that come to mind are the French Connection and the Godfather. Star Wars was the movie that brough movies back into the fun light fantasy.

Well Batman is a dark character. I doubt Thor or Captain America will be dark.

I saw it last weekend. It was pretty good. My second favorite movie of the year behind Indiana Jones.

I finally got around to seeing this on Tuesday night and I was blown away....and not in the geeky "that was an awesome comic book movie" way....this was a downright good movie.

I'd avoided spoilers like the plague and boy am I glad.  Lots of surprise...I was genuinely surprised and relieved at who got out of that wrecked armored van.

I lurved the launch of the BatPod - I had seen the pictures online and thought it was just teetering on the brink of ridiculous, but in the context of the movie it made much more sense so it was a big thrill.

Ledger was excellent, and i think of all things his absolute shining moment was when he sat down next to Dent and said "Hi.."  It was so spot on perfect..."this is awkward...." through the make-up and all...absolute perfect delivery of that moment.

The most shocking thing to me were the trailers before the flick....they were all, and I mean ALL, for B and C string **** movies, including some movie from a Christian production company about a fireman trying to save his marriage that looked like it was made for Hallmark TV.  Weird.

This sticker is dangerous and inconvenient, but I do love Fig Newtons.

I never really liked DC comics. I love Marvel, and I think IM, and the spiderman movies were better than this.

You'll be hard pressed to find people who think Spiderman was better than Batman Dark Knight.

*raises hand*

Here's one.

Spider-man 2, maybe. While I love the Dark Night and think is deserves every penny it's earning, it's still flawed and imperfect. Spider-man 2 was a more solidly constructed film.

Okay whatever.  I'm sure you'd be outnumbered about 5:1 with that assessment.  Dark Knight was a fantastic film, Spiderman was a goofy classic "bad adaptation of a comic book" movie.  Granted, as they go, Spiderman 2 was one of the best of those bunch.  But comparing it to Batman Dark Knight?  Please.  No chance.

Whatever back 'atchya.

You have the right to your own opinion, not to your own set of facts.  ;)

TDK passes Star Wars on the All Time Grosses. TDK=$473,194,356 vs Star Wars=$460,998,007.
Only $127,593,833 needed to pass Titanic which I would really love to see happen.

Not gonna happen.  TDK made $16 million over this past weekend.  Even if it only drops modestly it'd have to be top-10 for the next two or three months to make another $126 million.

Rumors are floating around the news for the next Batman flick... Johnny Depp as the Riddler & Cher as the Catwoman. Depp I can handle but Cher! Oy! Might as well put Batboy in the flick so Bale can bail!

Do you believe...in casting Cher as Catwoman?
