As this is the first time I'm participating in a fantasy baseball league, I don't have an opinion either way.  I'll go with the majority on this one.

If it is, that's fine - he loves it because he wins all the time. :)

I'm in favor of a shake up, but I don't have any suggestion as to what it should be.

Are there more statistical categories that we don't currently use?

You know what would be ******* awesome - to keep it a rotisserie league, and use ALL of those categories.

Do we have the ability to weigh stats?  If so, it would be cool to add some low-occurence stats like shutouts, complete games, triples, etc and give them a lower weighting.

If we're adding anything, I would recommend we *not* add any quantified stats in which more = worse.  Walks (for pitchers), strikeouts (for hitters), errors...that kind of thing.  We used turnovers and fouls in a basketball league once and it was way too easy to manipulate.

I could set up a second league and enter the results from the draft manually into the second league if you want.  But I won't be managing a team actively in a second league and I'm not about to mess up this league by throwing all that crap in there.  Besides, adding all those becomes a ton of work for me because then I do have to set the weighting for each (walks = -1; strikeouts = -0.-37465; etc.).

In 2006 we used the following categories:
H/AB (=avg), R, 1B, 2B, 3B, HR, RBI, SB

IP, W, L, SHO, SV, ER, BB, K

If we were to add any of those, I'd suggest adding 2b, 3b for hitters and only SHO for pitchers.

I will also point out that the last time we had those categories Dressel won the league.  The last two years the settings have been the same and Dressel didn't win either year.

I got ravaged by injuries the last 2 years though.  In 2006 I had a total of 2 players that hadn't been hit by injuries.  Ohmigod the pitching staff I had....and they all went down.  Harden.  Sheets.  Prior.  Ugh.

Anyhow, I have like 1 free day left to re-plan my strategy if you guys change anything, I'm set to go with the categories that the league is set for right now.  If you guys change anything, could you not do it like right before the draft?  The guys I'm gunning for right now might be suddenly undesirable if you move a lot of **** around from the way the settings looked when I registered.

I just want to restate my vote to leave the standard traditional roto scoring categories alone.

Executive decision: scoring remains the same.

In the absence of any other requests for change, the status quo shall be just that.  Hopefully all have prepared for the draft on that basis.  I know I've done tons of research to this point ::)

Are we worried about having eight players or are we ok with seven?

M'Kay,
Can you guys take a quick look over the stats categories again just to make sure I didn't mess anything up.  I just pulled over last year's settings, so all should be good.

7/8, here we go again.

Looks like I got an 8th team.  He should sign up soon.  It's JD's "malloc," he played with us before.

Very cool.  I'm looking forward to this, although I'm sure I'm going to end up with one of the most jacked-up teams in the league.

I'm in two leagues.

Both drafts are tonight at the exact same time.

I won't be home for the draft anyway.

I haven't preranked my players.

I doubt I'll have time to prerank my players today.

Hellooooooooooo last place.  :)
