Re: Wal-Mart Exclusive Wave? (Fall 2009)

Oh. Wow, sorry about that. I only brought this up because I didn't remember Darth Maul being in any of the sets and because we've seen Wal-Mart exclusive waves before and I thought they could've meant the Droid Factory basic figure line. My bad. :-[

An interesting answer from the Q&A this week at TheJawa:

The shirtless Evolutions Darth Maul looks great but if Hasbro ever re-releases this sculpt again, say... as part of a 2pack with a Sith training droid from the Darth Maul comic, could you use a brighter shade of red paint?  It was disappointing that the Evo Maul had such a muddy red look whereas in previous action figure incarnations, Hasbro used a much more intense red that really made him stand out.  And any chance of including a softgoods outfit with a re-release?

Thanks for the feedback.  We will look at this for any future releases. This Fall's Wal-Mart exclusive Droid Factory wave - which uses this figure and a soft goods robe, might satisfy your needs (although the figure is a little darker than the Evo figure version).  Beyond that, we don't have any plans for the figure but if we did re-release we will take your comments into account. Thanks!

Looks like they're putting shirtless Maul in the Droid Factory line as well!

I think we'd be better served with the regular Evolutions Maul with some new arms, but that's just me.

I agree, I would buy several for suctoms. It would be nice to get a new lightsaber as well, the 10 year saber has to go.

Make it split apart with the energy burst blade. While they are at it, it would be nice to have an updated split apart Maul too. The face sculpt look of the EP1 Split apart Maul was dead on, the POTJ release not so much.

I use the Order 66 Series 2 Obi-Wan Saber on the new AOTC Obi-Wan as they packed him with the 10 year old EP1 version. These kind of little details boggle my mind, they got the tool and just used it why use the ancient version?

A new droid showed up today.  This is the Cortosis Super Battledroid from the EU, and will be packed with Anakin Skywalker.

Interesting figure.  Different enough to warrant a purchase, and some interest.

I appreciate the part variant parts. Certainly stings a lot less in the wallet.

Pretty stupid in my opinion but I agree it's easier on a mental level to handle buying for the "newness". I would have preferred a plain SBD, that's a figure most people would not having to buy again to build the ranks. I will be ditching the two of these that I will be buying. I want x2 Darktroopers.

Compared to the figure it comes with...  eh, I am actually more interested in the droid.  He's at least "new", though I can't say I recall or  ???even read what the hell his goofy arms do.  *shrugs*

be prepared boys these mothers are $17 a pop.  Bought 2 last night, Corran/Fett.  Leaving unopened and keeping reciepts just in case I see these clearanced.  But with my luck with Wally exclu. it's doubtful.

RS reporting seeing them as well.

Ouch!  Indeedy!  Guess that "explains" how Hasbro was able to tool up the new Dark Trooper.   ::)

Man, I thought the tags at SDCC said $15.99?  Not that's its a significant difference, but I was hoping that it was a typo and they'd meant $12.99.  I like these sets, but I'm not sure I can handle that price tag...

I was just looking through some of the SDCC pics again and noticed something I missed the first time through...

The Hasbro Slides (both at Toy Fair and SDCC) have Fett looking all ESB-ish:

Which matches the loose figure shown at SDCC...

But after the Panel on Friday, a boxed version showed up that looked like this:

Makes me wonder which Fett is the final production deco one that we'll get?
