So What's Left Before Legacy/Clone Wars?
« on: February 18, 2008, 10:29 AM »
With all of the announcements and pics this weekend from Toy Fair (big thanks to Jeff and JD), it looks like the basic figure line will be getting a bit of a break from March until July 26th.  I thought it might be helpful to get a little "roundup" of what will be out there to look for in that time period, until the big Droid Factor and Clone Wars pushes start later this summer.  Off the top of my head, here's a few things, and please add in anything I'm not thinking of:

Basic Figures

Wave 1
001 Obi-Wan Kenobi
002 Darth Vader
003 Commander Gree
004 Kashyyyk Trooper
005 Tri Droid
006 2-1B
007 Po Nudo
008 Mustafar Panning Droid

Wave 2
009 Imperial Evo Trooper
010 Imperial Jump Trooper
011 Maris Brood
012 Battle Damaged Darth Vader
013 Rahm Kota
014 Imperial Shadow Guard
015 Juno Eclipse

Evolutions
Repacks (Anakin to Vader, Clone to Sandtrooper, Maul to Sidious)
The Jedi Legacy
The Sith Legacy
The Fett Legacy
The Force Unleashed Apprentice Set

Comic Packs
Lt. Jundland and Lt. Shan
Mouse and Able in Stormtrooper Disguise
Republic Commando and Super Battle Droid
Assaj Ventress and Tol Skorr
Anakin Skywalker and Durge
Others? (prior to July 26th?)

Battle Packs/Vehicles/Exclusives
Order 66 Packs (Target) - 6 of them
Aayla Secura's Jedi Starfighter (Target)
Battle Rancor with Felucian Rider (Target)
AT-AP
Grievous' Starfighter
Obi-Wan Kenobi's Jedi Starfighter (Blue)
Anakin Skywalker's Jedi Starfighter (Green)
Droid Factory Sets (Wal-Mart) - 6 of them

I know there are other things I'm missing (not sure what other comic packs/battle packs are left prior to July?), but please feel free to add in anything else that's on the way (at least from the basic line, if nothing else).  With all the push-backs (Force Unleashed stuff) and everything, its hard to remember what's still coming this spring/early summer, and what is later.

Here's what I think you can add:

Star Wars Legends
Commander Neyo
Covert Ops Clone Trooper
Shadow Stormtrooper
Utapau Shadow Trooper
Zev Senesca
Pit Droids (white, sitting, accessory 2)
Pit Droids (red, sitting, accesory 2)
Pit Droids (orange, sitting, accessory 2)
Sandtrooper v3 (clean, black pauldron, TSC body)
Sandtrooper v6 (dirty, white pauldron, Evolutions body)
501st Clone Trooper (SA mold)

Evolutions
Darth Vader Secret Apprentice

The Force Unleashed (game release day promotional items, exclusive to WalMart)
Darth Vader w/2 Inferno Troopers
Darth Sidious w/2 Shadow Troopers

Battle Packs
Attack on Kashyyyk from TFU (Target exclusive, 3/23)
Hoth Patrol w/Luke, Wampa & Taun-taun (TRU exclusive, May)
STAP Patrol w/2 STAPs and 1 Silver SBD (TRU exclsive, May)

Comic 2-Packs (the second WalMart Wave, set to come out 7/1)
Lando/Stormtrooper
Wookie/BARC Trooper
Anakin/Dooku

Droid Factory 2-packs (exclusive to WalMart are set to hit in the beginning of July)
Darth Vader/K-3PX
Luke Skywalker/R2-D2 w/Blast Damage
Hoth Han Solo/R-3PO
Plo Koon/R4-F5
Kit Fisto/R4-H5
Watto/R2-T0

For a lot of these, I'm basically assuming that anything that comes in packaging that is white Star Wars lettering/logo on a black background OR comes out before 7/26 is still part of TAC. The Droid Factory 2-packs are hexagonal in shape instead of a tube, but the artwork inside is still more akin to TAC than the Legacy Collection. Same thing is true for the two 3-packs WalMart will have for The Force Unleashed on the day that game hits stores. I'm assuming that the second WalMart wave of comic 2-packs will be in the current packaging style only because they are coming out before 7/26. If they are moved to coming out at the same time as the other stuff, I could see the packaging for those changing over to being more in keeping with the Legacy Collection.

Are the sitting pit droids any different from their standing counterparts?  i.e. as an opener, should I be concerned about these?

Yes, they are different. This is why it would have been better if Hasbro had just included both sculpts in the same package from the get-go.

Thanks for the additions Pete, I wasn't sure about some of those - and forgot others.  Does anyone know when the Thrawn/Karrde, Leia/White Vader, and Leia/Xizor comic packs are expected?  I don't think they were on the Hasbro presentation slides that we've seen so I didn't know if we'd see them before July or not.

According to the Hasbro presentation slides, the Thrawn/Talon Karrde & Leia/Xizor sets are to be released in September.

They did not have the White Vader/Leia ROTJ Infinities set in the presentation, so I'm not sure when that one is being released. Considering the August wave of Comic 2-packs includes the Hoth Leia/Tobbi Dala set, my guess is that the White Vader/Leia does have a chance of coming with the Durge/Anakin and Ventress/Tol Skorr wave simply because waves are typically either three or four sets, and so far that wave only has two entries and I doubt we'll ever see two Leias in any one wave.

Good points Pete.
Hasbro said 15 comic packs this year are coming, did anyone tally them up yet to see if there are any slots unfilled?

Kit Fisto/R4-H5
Watto/R2-T0

Total before tax (not including the EVO set I already have paid for: $1541.
With tax (7%) $1650 (approx)

So that’s an average of $330 per month from now until the CW/Legacy stuff hits.

Then it’s going to get expensive with vehicles, once the CW/Legacy stuff hits! (AT-TEs for one...) I'm already $750 into vehicles for the post 7/26 stuff!!! That will only leave me with $600 for all the rest of the stuff I want for the year. If I buy none of the CW animated figs, I think I can still meet that goal or maybe get lucky and be under it.

It's still kind of a lot, but most of it should be easy to find quickly. Typically, carded figs are the toughest and there aren't that many carded figures, comparatively.

Brian and Pete, thanks for your lists!  I'm having a hell of a time trying to figure out what's coming before the big Clone Wars push, so this was a huge help.

You make an excellent point.  I was unsure which line to consider the Droid Factory 2-packs a part of, especially since the build-a-droid concept is being used in the Legacy Collection, but the 2-packs are currently scheduled before 7/26.
