“Alien vs. Predator” Now in Pre-Production
« on: June 22, 2003, 09:56 AM »
Well it looks like its a go & pre-production has started. Looks like its based on the 1999 videogame & the Dark Horse comic book series.

“Alien vs. Predator”

These pictures were posted at theZreview.
Alien Vs Predator Pictures?

They say "we don't know if these are 100% genuine or not as we can't check the source of the pics, but they look great".

If these are promotion shots for the movie, then it looks like it will be an awesome flick. We will have to keep an eye out over the months on this flick.

What are you views on this movie?

Alien: Resurrection + Predator character = Alien Vs. Predator

The two main characters are set part in their respective movies by a few hundred years, so I don't know HOW this would work, or how the comic worked.

Those pictures look fake, as far as the contrast in saturation and what have you. I dunno if it's just me, but that last photo looks fake as hell.

I'm not sure if it's real or not, but it's a good idea. Since Freddy vs. Jason is finally getting made, why not this one?

But if it's pre-production, I doubt costumes and sets like those pictured would be ready to go already.

the movie has been on again/ off again about 6 times. suposedly paul anderson (resident evil, event horizon) will be directing. if anybody is interested this is a good site for fans:

avp site

the pics look fake to me, especially since they just now started doing location scouting. supposedly. who knows though.  I will believe this one is finally done when I'm sitting in the theatre.

I think those pics are actually from a trading card set or something like that. Definitely not promo shots.

First of all, Hollywood has made it abundantly clear that films don't have to make sense. I wouldn't count on there being a shred of continuity between this project and any previous Alien or Predator films.

However, should some studio exec actually care enough to place this in some kind of franchise continuity, it would have to be set after Ripley's adventures since the treatment mentions a team of scientists on "an expedition to Antarctica to lure Predator hunters, using Alien eggs as bait." (Why a group of scientists would embark on such an endeavor is beyond me.)

I just can't get excited about this project now. It would be one thing if Ripley was included and somehow teamed up with a faction of Predators to rid the Earth of this Alien threat once and for all, but as a stand alone project, possibly set outside continuity, I have a bad feeling about this.
Post sober.

According to Variety, "Twentieth Century Fox is marking August 6, 2004 as the target date for Alien vs. Predator (which Paul Anderson directing)."
