Target Geonosis Arena 2-Packs
« on: December 9, 2008, 02:06 PM »
Since I don't have a good place to post either of these, I thought I'd start a new thread...

Today we got a few prototype/test shot images, and 2 of them were very odd to me.  The one appears to be a new Colman Trebor figure (possibly), while the other seems to be a new Ewok sporting a Stormtrooper's belt.

Head on out to the front page to check both out.  I truly hope that is indeed a new Colman Trebor we're going to get, as he was disappointing to me as a figure.  The Ewok looks like he'll fill in the furball ranks pretty nicely too, and even has a new axe weapon (cool).

Anyone have any thoughts on these or the other protos pictured today?

And Colman Trebor was discussed in the recent batch of Q&A at MouseDroid.com:

"Coleman Trebor is a "refresh" figure meaning he is partly new, but designed to have more articulation than previous figures. In this case, we are using his head and possibly hands, another super-articulated Jedi body, and creating a new torso to bring them all together (and new calves as well). No word yet on being able to sit, but we hope so. As far as which wave he is in...the answer is "none." He will be part of a very cool exclusive 2-pack assortment coming mid-next year."

He looks like he uses the Evo Qui-Gon as a base for the refesh. The Arms, Pecker area, Skirt and Thighs. The Boots, Torso, hands and head look new. I am happy to see him upgraded now I can ditch the old one I have.

I agree as Colman's a pretty neat alien design but was not good fodder ultimately.  I'm glad to see a better articulated version that, I hope, will be a little more available in some degree.

Thanks to Scott and Jeff for clearing up the mystery (which was mostly only one to me).  I appreciate that. :)

A simple custom repaint of the hoods from the ewok set, and it'll make some great background filler!

I guess that's the same thing that's happening to the Evo Commando's. Makes me wish it would have done right the first time, but at least the figures are getting corrected.

I bet the upcoming 2-packs are gonna be Arena-related. Maybe a Jedi and a droid? Because we already know Coleman Trebor's coming in a 2-pack, and those guys look like an Episode II Kit Fisto, Roth-del Masona, and Joclad Danva.

Just guessing though. Whatever these end up being, it's very cool to be getting some more Arena Jedi.

These are either part of wave 7 or the Target exclusive 2-packs.  And since Coleman Trebor seems to be a part of that I think we can safely say that it's themed as a Battle of Geonosis or Arena Battle 2-pack series.

We've seen what appear to be 5 Jedi like this so far.
-Coleman Trebor
-Kit Fisto
-Rotha del Masona
-Joclad Danva
-Unknown Jedi (short dark hair)

Plus the seller was also showing Geonosian warrior and Destroyer Droid prototypes.  That gets me thinking that it's Jedi VS Seperatists.

As for the younglings?  I think they might be part of the AOTC wave as a 2-pack.

Hopefully that Kit Fisto will fit in his Jedi Starfighter.  None of the others do.
This is the way.

The Geonosian is Sun Fac, and the Destroyer Droid is the SAGA one.

Yeah, I'll add my vote to the "these must be the Target 2009 2-Pack Series" votes.  They fit well with the Coleman we've already seen and it's nice to see so many new (ok, kitbashed) figures included instead of just straight repacks/repaints.
