Justin Morneau out for the season with a back injury

I think that just about does it for me, I'm ready to give up on 2009.  Even if we somehow manage to snap out of our sub-.500 funk and win the division, we'd be facing the Yankees in the first round of the playoffs... the same guys we went 0-7 against this year... back when our staring pitching was still 'good' (and I use the term loosely).  :(

Oh well.  At least I have a new stadium to look forward to next year...  :P

Time to embarass myself once again with 'predictions' (aka wild guesses).  As a card-carrying anti-Yankee fan, I hate this but it makes the most sense...   :-\

- NYY over DET/MIN (doesn't matter  ::)) in 3 (maybe 4) games.
- BOS over LAA - 5 games
- COL over PHI - 5 games
- LAD over STL - 4 games

- NYY over BOS - 7 games
- COL over LAD - 6 games

- NYY over COL - 5 games

Wow, what a nailbiter!  I thought the Tigers had it when they had the bases loaded and only 1 out.  Congrats Twins!

That is, until tomorrow night. ;)

Okay, Twins it is.  As a Yankee fan, I'm glad we're not facing the Tigers (2005 was quite rough for me in October)

Yanks over Twins
Red Sox over Angels

NLDS:
Dodgers over Cardinals
Phillies over Rockies

ALCS:
Yankees over Sox
Phillies over Dodgers

WS:
Yankees over Phillies

I don't follow sports for the most part, but I believe the Twins will be playing the Yankees IIRC?  Haven't they slaughtered their opponents in the past few years when it comes time to playoffs?

Fun game to watch but....  I was watching it on a sportsnetwork up here: Sportsnet West.  At the end of the 10th inning they went to a hockey game (Calgary vs Montreal)!  I get this is Canada, but there are 78 freaking more games before the end of the season versus a playoff baseball game?  Just as stupid if in May they went from a playoff hockey game to a regular season baseball game.   ::)

Happy the Twins won. 8)

If the Twins had a healthy Morneau and Slowey I'd think about picking them...same old same old in that they do not have the talent to compete.  Do I hope they win?  Of course!  Do I think they win?  No way in hell...

Yanks over Twins
Sox over Angels

Cards over Dodgers
Phils over Rockies

Phils over Cards
Yanks over Twins

Phils over Yanks

Cardinals are flat.  Can't imagine them being able to pull out something now after last night's choke.
