JediJman's Vintage SW Collection
« on: February 25, 2009, 12:37 AM »
Okay, if I've timed this correctly, this will officially mark my 5,000th post on Jedi Defender. To celebrate, I've picked up the last remaining vintage figure missing from my collection.  A figure that has eluded me for over 30 years - the rare Blue Snaggletooth.  I wanted to take a few pics to mark the event in time and wound up taking shots of all my loose vintage.  I'll eventually get some pics of my carded figs in here as well, and the vintage 12" collection I've been assembling (still need that elusive R2!).  For now, I hope you enjoy the pics.

Nice.  Looks like you have a lot of variations as well.

The customs are pretty cool too.
This is the way.

By seeing your vintage, just brings me nostalgia for the once I had when kid  :'(

I see some hat I never saw when they where out hehe. nice.  :)<---of course I was a baby, but the ones in the 80's , my favorite still & was Bespin Luke, the Royal guard, it was so misterious to me hehe.

I'm actually surprised to see so many variations on the vintage figs.  I know we talk a lot about how the current variations in figs and accessories and packaging could somewhat intentional, but there were just as many (if not more) variations per fig back in the 70's and 80's.  My favorite is my "short-mouth" Biker Scout.  I should have gotten the regular one in the picture for a better comparison shot.

I wouldn't ever  notice that as a kid (variants/exclusives etc.), for many reasons, nor understanding or resources, neither had a father or friend adult to let me understand that, even I had found two Bespin Lukes with blond & brwon hair, I would think that it was a mistake perhaps  :)

cheers  :)

Here are some updated pics of my carded figs.  They are in a line of acrylic display cases, which are ridiculously hard to take a shot of with a flash (for me anyway).  I've set each of them up with a more modern version of the character to show the difference between new and old.  Still missing a couple of Ewoks though...

That's a fantastic display.  It's nice to see a wall giving tribute to both vintage and modern at the same time.

Very nice carded vinty collection you have there Justin - I'm now very jealous.  Nice touch on putting the modern counterpart with them.   ;)   Your loose collection brings back fond memories of many figures I never had - and still don't.  Some day....

I suppose all of your modern carded figs are still packed away, no?

Thanks for the compliments guys!  The vintage carded and loose displays were a ton of years in the making, so great to hear that others enjoy seeing them as well.

Yep - I've got the modern loose figs on display, but definitely not enough room to get the carded ones up anywhere.  The VOTC and various other exclusives that came in protective cases are hanging up, but everything else is tucked away in the boxes.
