Not the beastie I was looking for (Jabba!) but it's very nice.  $30 is asking a lot, but I will probably get one.

It is a beautifully sculpted beast, but a little less accurate to the dinosaur-like original film prop than I'd like.  It appears more lizard-like and less dinosaur in appearance, I think.  I feel the head of the POTF2 version is MUCH closer to the film appearance, but you just can't argue the sculpt of the skin...

I agree. The one good thing about the POTF2 version (in comparison to this version) was the head sculpt, but have a properly-scaled Dewback is nice no matter what.

Looks too good in person. Nice thing is, I think the old and new can live side by side.

That's a pic I'd like to see. I think that would help a lot of us in determining to buy or not.

I got the new Wal-Mart Exclusive Dewback a little early, and thought I'd snap (to my best abilities) a small gallery of boxed and loose images.  The Trooper doesn't come out great but he's just showing the flexibility of the new hip joints.  Better than I imagined.

Anyway,

Clicky to check out the gallery!

The Dewback has:

-removable saddle and bridle for a "nudeback" Dewback,  Nyuck nyuck
-added detailing and size
-Nice paint details to highlight the improved scales/sculpting
-neck articulation, ankle ball/socket joints, and limited ball/socket hips (4)

The Sandtrooper he comes with is lacking any dirt deco, so there may be some disappointed people in that regard, however it's an improved sculpt and articulation, and makes a great Stormtrooper and a nice clean Sandtrooper.

A highlight, for me at least, is the new Sandtrooper rifle which is the MG-32/34 (German World War 2) machine gun that was often mounted in aircraft.  It lacks a stock, which makes it kind of weird that it's listed as a Sniper Rifle in EU source material...  It has a TON of detailing sculpted into it, including wires to the scopes, holes in the barrel (as it should have), lines, greeblies, and other detailing.  It's one of the finer Imperial weapon sculpts IMO.  I'd take a dozen more of these guns alone!

The electro-staff is black, which makes it unique, and the Trooper's pauldron is that of a "Sergeant" or non-com officer.

The trooper's helmet sculpt appears, to me anyway, to be new...  His hips are all new, as is his belt, and if I had to guess I'd say he may be completely new, just based on existing parts.  But a new tooling is what I'm guessing he is, ultimately.  His belt features no attachment points for a grenade, but it looks as though it's intended to be removed.

Here's a neat thing.  His left hand is sculpted posed "downward" somewhat.  It holds the gun nicely pointed at the ground in an "at ease" position.  It's interesting when he's holding the rifle, as most Troopers holding this gun seemed to hold them like this.  Kind of neat the figure has that "look" to it then.

Again my apologies for the pictures.  They're not great but get the details across nice enough I think, and I'm by no means a skilled photographer with my little Sony camera. ;)  Enjoy!  This is easily one of the cooler OT pieces I've seen in a long time.

The side by side with the previous version is a little disappointing, but I don't think it warrants dumping the old one.

The POTF2 head is alot closer to the picture. If it was just smaller and on the body of the new one it would be better. However, the vintage one just makes me happy. It's a happier looking toy.

He's very happy to be out on a stroll with a Sandtrooper on his back.
