I almost read that as he will be truly in a Replica Vintage Sculpt Style.
I will place my bets there. I think this is more than a deco, he is old school.

Wait... is that an official unofficial picture of the at-at?

EDIT: Yes, I now see in the At-At thread. Cool.

Wow - so this might be a reproduction of the vintage Boba Fett from Kenner?

I guess I would be okay with that. I would almost prefer that they took the Evolutions Boba Fett and colored him up like the vintage Kenner figure instead.

Oh well....

It MIGHT be.  I would be fine with it.  I would imagine they would put some sort of modern spin to it.  I am thinking something along the lines of that Early Bird Telescoping Luke from a few years back.  However, I could just see them putting out a reproduction of the vintage Fett and then have that be the start of a whole new subline...yep the old Kenner figures.  LOL!  In all honesty I would probably go for vintage style figures that were never made like Tarkin, Rebel Fleet Trooper, etc.  It won't happen but just saying...

OMG!! We might actually get a replica of the original Vintage missile-firing figure! Now that's what is supposed to be a mail-away. I would have been so unsatisifed if Hasbro even dared re-release the Evo. sculpt - we JUST got it in TLC red phase!

Like I said a few posts ago, Hasbro has already re-released every SA version of Boba numerous times. And the Vintage carding was already reused in the 2004 VOTC. So Hasbro has to up their game.

If you haven't read the news or don't know what the hell I'm talking about, just clicky the link I provided.

Or maybe the kit-bashed version from the back of the original mail-away packages...

I think all Hasbro is refering to in the Q&A at JTA is the vintage cards themselves.  I think this will be a rocket firing Fett, but a modern one.

I've read that Q&A answer a few times and it's easy to read it several ways.  I'm assuming that even though they call this release an "exception," they still say in the same sentence that there will be no return to the "simpler style" of figures.  So is this an exception to even that or not?  I don't know, I try not to read too much into Hasbro's wording, I don't think they're trying to be clever and the rampant speculation (not to mention complete lack of general reading comprehension) usually just leads to ridiculous conclusions.

Actually, it's even speculation that this refers to the mail-away Fett since they don't say that they are and the question doesn't even reference him. Anyway, my guess is that they are talking about the Fett figure and my thought is that they'll at least do a classic Kenner paint app and may do some type of helmet update to mimic the Kenner fig (like they did with Luke's telescoping saber).  I also think the firing backpack will be included, but will it be a modern type or will Fett have a new torso that incorporates it but still have more modern arms and leg articulation?

Whatever they come up with, I'm probably going to like it.

Still not confirmation of a 5 point of articulation sculpt, but according to Hasbro, the mail-away Fett will be "identically styled after the 1980 mail-away figure."

The full release:

Additionally fans are also encouraged to collect five of the marked figures in the new vintage lineup to send away for their very own “Rocket Firing” BOBA FETT action figure, identically styled after the 1980 mail-away figure.

I'm hoping that the "marked figures" comment doesn't refer to stickers like we did before.  The whole relase is a little oddly worded.  Anyway, there it is.

I am SO getting this!

Though I have to wonder, how is this any less of a choking/blinding hazard now than it was 30 years ago?
