Your #1 Action Figure
« on: May 10, 2010, 10:52 PM »
Pretty much a simple question - which is your favorite action figure, that you own (in terms of favorite, articulation... etc.)? Feel free to write down 2nd, 3rd, and 4th places.

For me:
1. Lumiya (2010 CP) - really cool sculpt and design.
2. Plo Koon (2010 LC) - hey, I love this guy!
3. General Grievous (2009 TLC) - pretty impressive figure in terms of articulation and detail.
4. Darth Vader (2008 TLC) - nice removable helmet. ;)

My kneejerk reflex is to say VTSC Snowtrooper.  The figure is awesome.

But the Grievous and Vader you mentioned above are also in my top 20, along with Ephant Mon, Hermi Odle, Evolutions Jango, Nick Sant-style Biker Scout, Geonosis 2-pack Coleman Trebor, Talz Warrior, Preview Wookiee Warrior.  Probably all honorable mentions to the snowtrooper, but I'm on like 1/3rd of a cup of coffee here and just woke up.

I really dig:

Legacy Gungan Warrior - he just looks like an excellent representation of the figure - also his articulation is so well done and well hidden.
VTAC Snowtrooper
Vintage Style Bossk
Vintage Style IG-88
HK-47/50 - they are also great representations of their figures imo

I am sure there are plenty more - these are the ones popping into my head right now.

Very true: I'm impressed by the sculpt, except the paintjob. :( On my figure, the paint bleeds a lot onto other places.

As for my decisions, I grew up with the Prequel Trilogy (and Special Edition of the OTS), which really influenced my choices. I remember seeing Plo Koon as a kid and thinking how cool he looked.

VTSC IG-88 and VOTC/Early Bird Chewbacca figures...  To me, these two are probably the finest two basic figures in the modern line overall.

I'd have to give honorable mention to the EU Dark Trooper Phase 1, and the BAD Dark Trooper.

If I were to expand a bit and focus on the Empire, I'd go with the Spacetrooper and Black Pauldroned Sandtrooper (clean) as well...  Both make very good representations of the basic Stormtrooper, and the Sandtrooper one even includes everything you could want for the trooper's field gear short of extra ranks.  A close second and third for me would go to the VTSC Snowtrooper and the VTSC Biker Scout, as both are insanely accurate and detailed figures.

For the Rebel side of things, there isn't much, but I think the recent Pilot figures (Snowspeeder, A and B-Wingers, and X-Winger) are all great, as is the REbel Honor Guard which is not only obscure but very good.  Then the last one I'd mention for the Rebs is maybe my favorite, in the Hoth Rebel Soldier from last year.  It's fantastic, and such a shame we did not get the variation which was even better in terms of army building as it's generic.

From a purely aesthetic POV combined with "Wow that's a big figure", I'm always still impressed with Hermi Odle and Ephant Mon...  Outstanding individual figures if a little limited in poseability.

Nothing official to it, so I think it's whatever you want to say or what you like.

Vader has always been a favorite character to me so I'd say TSC Vader with all the articulation. Second was VOTC Vader except for the swivel arms. I also like Dagobah VAder and Emperors' Wrath Vader for POTJ line. Good and intersting scupts though articulation was not as great as it is now. I'm also partial to Boba Fett (Fett evo) and Jango eventhough his jumpsuit is purple and not blue. I also Like VTSC IG-88, great sculpt, tons of articulation - unfortunately many broken parts due to softer plastic. Cant wait for the re-release of it. I like the Endor C-3P0 a  lot due to bendy knees (FINALLY) but the gold finish rubbed off but still a very cool 3P0. And I guess lastly I'd say VTSC Tusken Raider/Sandperson. Love the soft goods cloak and skirt. Very good articulation even with swivel albows.

Man that is tough, but I really love how Ephant Mon turned out.   The VOTC Han Solo is fantastic.  The current Luke Snowspeeder Pilot is pretty slick as well.  I could go on and on.

If I had to pick one it's Ephant Mon.  I know he means just about zilch as far as the saga goes but it's a great SW figure.

Vintage Jedi Luke, just for nostalgia's sake. That was my go-to figure as a kid, and I still love how it looks.
