G.I. Joe Renegades - Cartoon Series
« on: April 23, 2010, 12:29 PM »
There was a blurb on HISS about GI Joe Renegades.  Possibly the title to the new Joe toon or maybe just the name of an episode for the new show...

"G.I. Joe Renegades" (Hub Original Series)

This action-packed animated series goes back to basics with the origins of G.I. JOE, the world's most elite fighting force, and their evil nemesis, the Cobra organization.  Witness the emergence of the heroic G.I. JOE team as a cadre of highly-trained specialists who are forced to band together to prevent the nefarious forces of Cobra from achieving global domination. Produced by Hasbro Studios.

Generally I like that style of animation, but have to admit that I'm not sure about Snake Eyes.  I see what they went for, the pants kind of represent a gi and the rest is similar to his Resolute look only with the classic visor.

So... Spring 2011 then?

Hope to at least see some pics of what these will look like, along with vehicles, etc.  I'm kinda excited.

There has probably been newer info released on this, but I believe their original thought was Fall 2011.  The POC line should be done somtime in late Spring and then they'll move on to Renegades.

My thought, just in time for season 2 of the cartoon to debut.  If it makes it that far, I guess.  I'm assuming since Hasbro is a partner in this network that even if nobody watches it, it'll still get at least 2 seasons worth of stuff on the air.

And, as an FYI, I don't get the Hub network and don't think there's an option available to me to get it.  So, I won't be watching and by association, probably won't be buying any of the toys unless a vehicle comes out that looks cool.  The figures, if they follow the animation closely, probably won't be of any use to me.

Thanks for that info.

As for the Hub network, I don't think it has debuted yet?  I thought 10/10/10 was the debut of it.

As for the Hub network, I don't think it has debuted yet?  I thought 10/10/10 was the debut of it.

It hasn't debuted, but I was under the impression that it was replacing Discovery Kids on the network dial.  Sort of how CW replaced UPN on most cable providers.  I don't get DSCKids and don't think I have an option to, even by going to the digital package Time Warner offers in my town.

I won't be getting the Hub either, but I'm sure I'll find a way to see this cartoon, just to see what all the fuss is about.

We get Discovery Kids, so hopefully we'll be good to go with "the Hub" as well.  I noticed on TV Guide's schedule, it looks like there is the classic Transformers/G.I. Joe block from 11-12 each night, which is cool.  Sure, I have them all on DVD, but it is just cool that they are on TV again.  I know - even before I kept up on a lot of this stuff - I always wondered why these types of animated series weren't shown on stations like Boomerang, etc.  I know now that it is all right mumbo jumbo, but back when Boomerang was the only avenue for stuff like that, it seemed like a good match.

I'll check out the new show as well, hopefully it is good.  Joe hasn't had a great track record since the original series ended for the most part.
