MLB 2011

I realize this isn't related to the players/teams, but I thought I would mention that a local Chicago radio station is putting on a roast of Ozzie Guillen later this month.  My wife and I have tickets to go and are really looking forward to this.  It ought to be hysterical!

Should be fun...  I'd guess the local media has a lot of good material for a roast given all his antics.  :-X

In other news... I can't bring up tomorrow HoF vote without a plug for Bert.  After last year's 74%, he's just got to get in this year...  I hope.   :-\

Hopefully nobody gets sent to sensitivity training after this one.

Both Raines and Baines are up again this year as far as former Sox players are concerned.  I really hope that Baines makes it in.  He was always one of my favorite players in the 80's growing up and I personally think that his numbers are good enough to warrant entry.  Raines was more of a Montreal guy to me than a Sox guy.  Considering most of his best seasons came with Montreal, I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up in the Hall with an Expos hat on if he makes it in...

Hooray for Bert finally making it into the Hall.  14 years is a long wait, nice that those holdout voters finally saw all those Ks, SOs, and innings and let him into the Hall.  :)

Congrats too to Alomar - great baseball player, but kind of a prick as a person.  :-X

Interesting to see that McGuire's admission on steriods and his re-entry into the world of baseball actually caused his vote total to go down.  I sort of thought that once he owned up to his PED use, they may give him a break - I guess this year will be a penalty year for him and he'll start trending back up next year...

I still think you need to put up great career numbers AND be one of the elite at your position for multiple years.

So Alomar yes

Bert no.

Hopefully now that Bert is in Jack will finally get in next year...I'd have put Jack in before Bert

And the blackballing of drug users is going to come to a head in about 3 or 4 years when Bonds and Clemens come up...because they are both HOFers before they doped...so do you ban them over that?

Anyone have any thoughts on MLB adding another wild card team next year? Sounds like it's a done deal.

My first thought is NO. But it would make the division winner have a much bigger advantage over the wild card team than the system currently does so I like that.

Hat's off to Liriano on the no-no.  Would have been more impressive without the 5 walks, but still an accomplishment to be proud of considering he has never had a complete game up to this point.

We suck, and I am sticking to my preseason prediction that we're going to get beaten by Boston this year, and not even get the Wild Card if we're not careful.

We are too damn old.

We suck

You suck?  I'll give you disappointing, I'll give you underachieving, but not 'suck'.

If you want to talk about a team that sucks, let's talk about my 14under .500 squad that is currently stinking up MLB's cellar.  Now that's a team that sucks.   :'(
