Republic Attack Shuttle
McMetal:
So I went ahead and opened the one I bought at Target for $23 last night, and I have nothing but good things to say about this toy.
It's just cool and different. The design is slick, they really optimized all the play features and made the base/ship transition as easy as possible. Doubles as a good carrying case for loose figures too.
I have to applaud Hasbro for trying something different and trying to figure out a way back into this whole playset mentality. I realize there may be little appeal to collectors, but my kids are going to LOVE this thing.
I just can't imagine shelling out $80 for the thing is all. For $23, it's a terrific value.
CHEWIE:
For $80, it didn't feel like a good deal, which is what I paid for the first one I bought. I was able to get a couple more off Amazon for $25 each with free shipping... and yeah, my kid loves mine. The first one that I got is on display, the second one for him to play with. The third for a custom Imperial paint scheme down the road.
Of note, I still think this was a weird item for Hasbro to bank on as a "big one" for 2011 - they'll try this item that barely anyone recognized, but are unwilling to try out environments/playsets from areas anyone who is familiar with Star Wars would instantly recognize. Pretty silly in my opinion.
Darth_Anton:
I have to admit, I picked one of these up on clearance and I love it. Whenever I get settled back down, I might give it a new paint job to give it an imperial look.
McMetal:
Apparently Walmart has dropped the clearance price on this further, from $39.90 to $30...saw the new red tag today.
They've still got a ways to go to match Target or Amazon.
Jeff:
Just $42 at Entertainment Earth today! (Sale ends at 11:59pm PST tonight or while supplies last.)
