I'm a huge fan of John Hughes and the 80's teen movie genre in general.  Ah, the memories.  So how about you?  Which 80's teen movie was/is your favorite?

Wow!  There's a lot of movies that I completely forgot about.  But, there were a TON of great movies from the 80's.

Howard the Duck ;D  I just want to know who's going to make me my custom Beverly figure to go with the ML Howard the Duck fig.  Action figure of Lea Thompson?  Yummy.

Oh yeah, movies.

Fast Times at Ridgemont High
Weird Science
Ferris Bueller's Day off
Animal House (college, high school, they only differ by ease of access to beer)
Wraith ;)
Minivans: a sign of the apocalypse.

John Hughes Directed only these classics which sorta shocked me

Director - filmography
Curly Sue (1991)
Uncle Buck (1989)
She's Having a Baby (1988)
Planes, Trains & Automobiles (1987)
Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986)
Weird Science (1985)
Breakfast Club, The (1985)
Sixteen Candles (1984)

He went from Teen Dramas/Comedies to straight comedy with John Candy :-*

He was also producer on...

Home Alone
Great Outdoors
Christmas Vacation

And wrote all of the above plus

Mr Mom
Vacation and Euro Vacation

Past around 1990 though it seems he went to crap

Err..I think some of yous guys are a wee bit confused.

Just what I was going to say Cory.  By "teen movies", Force Guy is referring to movies about "teens" (like American Pie or Clueless), not movies that you watched when you were in your teens (though there could be some crossover between those two subsets)!   :P

That said, teen movies were/are just a silly, fun, guilty pleasure of mine too.  So here's most of the ones I'll get sucked into when I come across them on the tube (most of which have been listed here already)...

  • Some Kind of Wonderful (Lea Thompson)
  • Can't Buy Me Love
  • Fast Times at Ridgemont High
  • Breakfast Club
  • Ferris Bueller's Day Off
  • Weird Science
  • Sixteen Candles
  • Pretty In Pink

I was just waiting for someone to mention Can't Buy Me Love.  :)  I'm still waiting for someone to mention Just One Of The Guys, The Heavenly Kid, Reckless, or The Last American Virgin.  Of course, maybe there's a reason that they haven't been mentioned yet.    :P

And Jedi Mac is right.  By "teen movie," I mean 80's movies that were about teens.   ;D

I'm still waiting for someone to mention ...or The Last American Virgin.

Ah, yes.  That was a good one too!  Just not quite as mainstream as the rest (probably due to the "R" rating).  How about Better Off Dead...  Some good angst-ridden teen elements in that one, and definitely pretty funny!  Of course, the common factor between these two movies was Diane Franklin - the virgin in the former, and the foreign exchange student in the latter...   ;)
