Target Vintage Collection Luke's TaunTaun
« on: September 1, 2011, 12:24 AM »
The great mystery of Vintage Luke's Taun-Taun, and not having a rider...

The high-res shots really show how nice the saddle is compared to the POTF2 one.  Very slick.  Check out the new high-res pics

The deco isn't as hyper detailed as the Landspeeder, but it's sweet nonetheless, and those boxes are so tempting on their own even.

Target completely abandoned stocking new SW toys in this area after they completed their recent reset. It's like after they moved things around they were all like "We're done!" and proceeded to abandon practices like stocking new figures, restocking Deluxe sets that have sold through, clearancing out older exclusives to make room, etc.

It's suddenly like summertime all over again, with a complete fail on new product everywhere.

There's probably going to be another Target reset in about 1 month.  Right now the retailers are in back to school mode, and in October they'll shift into Holiday mode.  I think October is the likely time that we'll see the Tauntaun.

Our Targets in Minnesota seem to be in the same mode- They reset, have a large section of real-estate dedicated to Star Wars, and simply don't have any product on the pegs. Some have 25 or more pegs for figures, and less figures than pegs. Others have absolutely tons of old figures.

But I am looking forward to seeing the Tauntaun in person.

Looking forward to it, but it will just stand there without a rider I guess.  But I have a feeling that Hoth Luke will be shown at NYCC in October.

POTF2 Luke's going to have to act as a placeholder, but when we saw that Echobase Trooper I was banking that some of his parts will get re-use on a Luke, and I still believe that could happen.

You have to almost bank on Hoth Luke for 2012.  Just look at the incarnations of Luke we've gotten in The Vintage Collection:

-Death Star Escape Luke
-Bespin Luke
-Jedi Duel Luke
-Sandstorm/lightsaber construction Luke

And then look at what else has been offered since 2008-2010:  Stormtrooper disguise Luke, Snowspeeder pilot Luke, and Tatooine Luke (Resurgence of the Jedi).

That only leaves a few options for new Luke figures:
-Yavin Ceremony Luke (off the market since 2007)
-Hoth Luke (off the market since since 2007 - battle pack)
-Dagobah training Luke (off the market since 2007/08)
-X-Wing Luke (been done numerous times)

Based on that, you've got to think that a Hoth Luke has to be in works.

The last one was the AOTC/Saga one wasn't it? Been a very long time indeed. As for the Taun Taun, it looks great, glad I held out on buying the old one for so long.

As Nick said, that figure was rereleased in 07/08 in the TRU exclusive "Hoth Patrol"
 Battle Pack.

Got a hundred dollars in my pocket waiting for this one, the search for Luke skywalker and the landspeeder. Waiting on target to get it together.

Anybody Have any word on this item? Has anyone talk to a target rep?

It's almost November and not one sign of this.

Anyone just as frustrated?

No, No, and No.

It surfaced overseas, so it'll be here soon enough.  They may have it planned to come in for the Christmas reset after Halloween or something.  They like to hold exclusives like that.
