« on: August 2, 2003, 06:11 PM »
a place i visit every now and then called Planet Retro had a lot of EU figures in and well..
me and the guy there got into a conversation about who was and wasn't rare.

i recall mara jades, and dark troopers hard as hell to find...

now mara jades are easy to come by and thrawns are the hard ones...

its all whacked out...

how was it for you guys finding these figures?

I never saw any of these at retail in my area. Now it seems that if I want any of them I can get them with out to much trouble, but the trade off is that the price is usually more than I am willing to pay.   I know that the dark trooper is still one of the harder ones to get and comands the most $$.

I have been able to work some of these into recent trades so that helps.

I did not see any of these at the retail level.  I was fortunate enough to work out trades for my EU figures a good while back.  As I recall,   the Darktrooper took the most barganing to get.

I saw a few of them at Retail, but I passed on them because I didn't know who any of the characters were. That was the only time I saw them.

I never saw them in retail either.  I have seen them in person at flea markets and toy shows, but dealers are asking for WAY too much money for them.

The Reason Thrawns are so hard to come by is because of customs he was the only Imperial officer that sported the white uniform,  Thus making him a great Figure to customize.  As far as Mara Goes I never did find her at Retail and I haven't won one on E-bay as of yet.  :-\  Dark Jedi Luke also is a tough one for me still dont have.

I had the fortunate chance to find 5 of the 9 EU figs at retail, Luke, Palpy, Leia, Imp Sentinel and Thrawn, of course I had already ordered my EU figs from the Fan Club (back when figs didn't cost an arm and a leg from the FC (not the new ownership, the last 2 owners)). I however only saw the figs at 1 Target and 1 KB, they either got picked up really quick or just never hit my area hard. Still some of my all time fave figs...

I personally don't label the EU figures as "rare" at all, but not because I found them at retail.  I didn't either.  Not one...  These were not common at all in Pittsburgh, that's for sure.

But they were made (All of them) widely available at the Fan Club for a reasonable price, and for quite a long time actually.

The 2 that kept selling out at the Fanclub were Darktrooper and Spacetrooper though, as I recall, and they even eventually made it to the point where a month later you could still log on the site and order a set of those 2.

Next in line for selling out was Kyle, Mara, and Thrawn...  The Sentinel, Luke, and Clone Emperor seemed to be the weakest sales-wise of the EU series.

I wish we got some new EU figures...  Jedi Knight/Outcast Kyle baby!!!

I found all but Leia, Darktrooper, and Spacetrooper at after-Christmas clearances in '98-99. I eventually got the Troops through the FC, and it wasn't until 2001 that I finally broke down and ordered Leia through Brian's Toys. Of course, they failed to tell me that the card would have a big Japanese sticker on the back. Dicks.

I found them all at retail. The 2 troopers in the wave were the toughest to find. I wish we could get some more EU figures.

personly I'm still trying to track most of them down for my collection.  But some of them have massive prices such as I saw a spacetrooper at a flee market for 75 is that good?

Not by a longshot Alexander...  Scour Ebay and you'll get a better idea what they SHOULD be selling for.  It's the best resource when you're looking for current going rates/values on figures.
