Those are great! I love the Yoda hat. I just don't like the hole in the top of their heads. I'm thinking they are going to have bins of parts with bags to put the parts in like the Mr. Potato Head stuff. Since these parts are so small, I wonder how they are going to keep people from stealing the parts.

I love the bag or box idea, but I think this would be really tough to support at retail.  You would need a pretty small container and/or a really high price point to make that work.  With the pieces being different sizes, would there be a bigger run on heads and legs versus bodies?  And what's the cutoff for these containers?  Can it be overflowing?  Does it need to be sealed all the way?  Unless they adopted a "price per pound" approach, I just don't see it happening.  Lego has a gold mine with their $4 each or 3 for $10 minifigure building station.  It's fun for the kids and those 3-4 pieces probably cost $.25 or less per figure.  I think Disney will go this route - it's just far easier for everyone and probably drives more profit for them.

For the collectors, I hope they make some kind of B-A-D Box set containing one of each unique part.  They could probably make a mint selling those too.

I'm REALLY hoping for this as well - I think it would be silly for them not to offer such an option. I wouldn't even care if the price point was a premium, just give me a way to make ONE purchase and get ALL of the parts and I'm happy. Don't make me have to go to Disney and dig through bins of parts.

too bad there will not be any protocol type droids - but I guess I can understand given the costs involved for the articulation

I bet we will see these if the astromechs do well.  Just like the Star tours waves not all hitting at once.  I don't think there's a big difference, since they're just additional molded, fixed parts.

Wouldn't it be funny if the person you had to pick the parts off of was dressed as one?  That'd almost be worth the trip there.

I think they said that that pic was of the "first group of parts" or something.  I guess they'll do it like lego does the build-a-figure thing at their stores.  Bins of each type of part (legs, torsos, hats/hair) that you put together and snap in a clamshell for buying at the counter.  Probably $10 or something for a single droid, so you can't just buy a dozen of the different domes or something.

I'll be really snapped if this truly is just an in-store thing for DW....heck, they haven't even announced it yet for Disneyland!  Scalpers will be selling these for $20 per on ebay.  Ugh!  Someone give us an official press release or something!

I'm hoping my Disney connection comes through for me on this one because, well, I just love these...  don't even need the hats.  Just love the droids.  Purple R3?  Cool beans.

Love the colors on those...  No plan of ever going to DW or DL before I die though, so yeah, if I can't find an outlet for these I'm hosed I guess.  :-\

So the scalper goes and builds his own droid the way he likes it then sells it to us. These are going to be some ugly looking droids. HW guys have no sense of decoration. Just look at the crap Mattel makes them buy.

Now that I think about it. These things are going to be about $13 each. Retail + Disney markup.

How much do you love them?  If that second RS rumor report is true, there are 25 different heads, meaning there could be as many as 25 basic droids to complete (unless some colors match existing droids).  If the (rumored) $10-12 each price is accurate, it could get pretty spendy to buy them all.

Here is the RS-rumored parts list for those too lazy to follow the link:

Maybe we just love Jedi Defender too much to go to the otheR Site.  ;)

Thanks for the news. That's quite a bit of droid love... and that doesn't include the hats, either. I'd love to get some of the cool versions.
