I say similar to the Starspeeder because it was, by all accounts i've been told, tooled and built completely separate of Hasbro, unlike the Droids.  I'd not read anywhere that Disney had worked a contract similar to what the Joe Fan Club does though...  ???  It was obvious they're Hasbro molds because they're still stamped as such of course, but the whole methods of contracting Hasbro to do your bidding seems interesting to me.

In theory, with the right money and LFL approval,  you could probably get your own figures made. :)

I hadn't heard if Hasbro or Disney had tooled the domes.  I missed that.  Kind of neat that they may wind up as exclusive Disney items...  I'd be kind of happy with that.  Makes them unique.

So if JediDefender had enough money it could contract Hasbro to make a JediMac figure?

Well - after six months, my journey to a complete set of 100 Disney Build-a-Droids is finally over. My friend let me know this weekend that he was finally able to score me a 2-pack of two all-black R6 droids w/Jack Sparrow Pirate Hats.

He also has bodies that I have designed for use with the dome that is coming with that Class 1 Yoda Jedi Scout Fighter and an extra White w/Yellow R2 unit for use in my new Naboo Starfighter.

So I guess, this means Wave 1 of Disney BAD is done, bring on Wave 2...  >:D

What's the total number of droids and the total price?

What's the total number of droids and the total price?

Well - I have 100 droids in my Wave 1 set - one set of 50 to keep carded and one set of 50 to have open. In each set of 50 there is 2x of each of the different dome.

I also scored some "spare" droids - one for the Naboo Fighter - a White w/Yellow R2 and a pair of droids to give a body to the dome that's coming with the Yoda Jedi Scout Fighter Mini-rig that's coming next year - so that's another three droids, plus I think I have one more coming for use in the TRU Vintage Y-Wing - probably an R5 - it's sad, it's been so long since I thought about these parts and being so busy at work, I'm not even sure what's coming anymore....

When the box comes, I'll snap a few more pictures and post them here.

As far as cost - just the cost of the droids it's been roughly $1225.

That doesn't include the cost of the trip I made in May, the $$$ for shipping that I've given my friend who helped me get the rest AND the extra $$$ I gave my friend for his trouble/effort - which was a bargain compared to having to make several more trips to the park like he did

Looks like Disney has put Build-a-Droid setup in Once Upon A Toy in Downtown Disney at WDW. I wonder if Disneyland's World of Disney is getting something similar.

Nice - glad to see them put it some place reasonable, now if they add new parts, I'm sure I can get one of my friends down there to just make a trip over to Once Upon a Toy as opposed to having to go into the park...

All I know is when I go down there in October I am building one of everything and throwing 'em all up on eBay like Adam Pawlus told me to. Cha-ching!

Was at the toy show and apparantly 2-packs sell for sick money according to the one dealer we talked to.

I've kept all mine that my buddy Jim made me, and want some more.  There are some nice color combos.  Really sort of stand-outs,a nd then good filler too like the green R5 droid.  Hard to believe there is no Green R5 in the movies and even EU that I can think of.

I'm hoping for a Disneyland display myself. Need the imperial colored ones badly.

Just for clarification, is this set up at Star Traders inside the park, or at Once Upon A Toy (or another store) outside the park at Downtown Disney?  I'm seeing conflicting reports around the web on that.  If it's only the former at this point, I'll just wait it out 'til they go WDW's strategy where they subsequently get released outside the park too.  I'm not paying a $100 cover charge to get these things...

Paul, do you know yet?
