OFFICIAL 2004 Set News/Rumors
« on: August 8, 2003, 11:20 PM »
Gareth @ FBTB Posted this :

He's coming in a monstrous modular bespin playset. There's a landing dock, dining room, two pieces of duel scenery, freezing chamber and torture room.

Figs include Luke, Leia, Lando, Han, Boba Fett, Vader and a Stormie.

Just watched the big unveiling at brickfest via streaming video. September-ish release, shop@home only, $100.
Also he added this later:

Well, I guess I'll describe it in as much detail as I can since my gaming companions for the evening seem to be stumped on how to get wilco working.

The components (in the order of unveiling):
1. Dining room. White interior, table, couple of chairs. Has only one wall I think, in addition to the floor. Floor and wall are both about 16 x 16 studs in size. The door slides up and down, and can be raised and lowered by turning a nearby knob.

2. Dark room. Couldn't see this one very well. I thought it was the room where Han was tortured and Chewie was held, but later, I think he used the same module to show the "Luke being flung out the window by Vader" action. It launches luke through a TIE Fighter windscreen and halfway across the room.

3. Landing dock. Sort of blah. It's got a bunch of those huge bricks with round corners like from the girlie faerie sets whose name I forget. Not much detail. That I could see, anyway.

4. Freezing chamber. Didn't get a good look at it, sorry, but I imagine there's some sort of dunking mechanism.

5. Bridge thingy where vader and luke duel. Looks good. Very good. No discernabled functions. Has a hand rail similar to Brucey Wan's, but it's much smaller.
Check it out HERE.

Thanks to Kris Van de Sande for the news.

This is great! $100 for a huge Cloud City playset, and minifigs galore. And we're finally getting a Brown Lando! I can't wait to get this! ;D

EDIT by JediMAC:

Adam's probably right (see below).  Sorry Slave_531, but while that's a great picture that I'd love for all our members to enjoy here, we should probably leave the exclusive content to the folks that it's exclusive to, at least for the time being anyway...  Thanks for the heads up though.  Nice of you to be looking out for your fellow JD'ers here!

So head on over to FBTB.net for a shot of this great looking set in all it's glory!

I am not trying to be a mod, but you may want to edit out the picture, LEGO is pretty staunch about only letting certain websites use their imagery, and this could put FBTB at risk of loosing their priveledges to preview images.

That being said, I will be getting up nice and early on Monday and preordering this bad boy! I CANT WAIT for it! The Jabba's Palace was a cool set, this looks even more impressive.

I only hope this means a Death Star could be in the works as well. I actually would have preffered a DS set first, but Im incredibly pleased with this set, especially with a new Lando and repainted Boba Fett! :)

Sorry about the photo, I'll be more carefull next time. :)

Found some more pics:

The landing pad looks like a waste of space, IMO. I also think that $70 would be a more reasonable price. FBTB has also said that there might be more sets that add on to this one.   :o

Now where's Mace Windu?  ;)

What an incredible set!

Wonder if the landing pad is big enough for the Falcon

The set looks very nice and I'm glad we've finally got a Lando minifig, but I'm not sure if I could afford $100 for it.

Well, I don't know if I've already mentioned this, but the set will be a Shop @ Home Exclusive. You can preorder it starting tomorrow, and I believe that it comes out in October.

Also, I've heard that the Landing Pad can't fit the Falcon, but it can fit Jango's Slave 1.

Found this on the FBTB Forums:

Fly the X-wing to Dagobah!
Luke Skywalker has piloted his X-wing Fighter to Dagobah to learn the secrets of the Force from Yoda! Can the Jedi Master train Luke in time to stop the Empire from defeating the Rebels? Will Luke master the Force and be able to raise his X-wing from the swamp? The choice is yours when you build this exciting new set, featuring the X-wing, Yoda's house on Dagobah, Luke Skywalker and Yoda! Ages 8-12. 563 pieces.
#4502 X-wing Fighter $49.99

Sounds pretty neat! I hope it comes with an R2 also!

BTW, no pics are availible yet, but they should be in the next Lego Shop @ Home Catalogue. Hope it looks good! :)

More detailed pics have hit FBTB!

I am slightly disappointed in Yoda's Hut, but the X-Wing looks AWESOME! :o

And FBTB is saying that Yoda might not be able to fit into Luke's backpack.

You can also preorder the set, but you have to call the Shop at Home phone number.

That's a pretty nice set.  I may have to actually pay retail for something in the LEgo line :o :-\

It's a decent looking set.  The X-Wing looks great, but I'm not so sure about Yoda's hut either.  It just looks like anyone could have built that themselves.  I'm sure it will become part of my collection though.   :P

Two new sets...
« Reply #12 on: September 11, 2003, 11:12 PM »
FBTB has just found out that there will be a UCS Snowspeeder set and a redesigned Millenium Falcon set coming next year. That's all I know right now.

Maybe I should be the official Lego news guy for JD. :P

A UCS Snowspeeder sounds awesome!  I've wanted one of those for a long time now.

FBTB has just found out that there will be a UCS Snowspeeder set and a redesigned Millenium Falcon set coming next year.

Any new UCS sets are cool with me!   8)  Still have yet to cave in on the Star Destroyer though, in hopes that it eventually hits retail and therefore sales/clearance prices.  A UCS Snowspeeder should be relatively small and "affordable" though, I'm guessing a little under $100 hopefully.

As for a new (redesigned) Falcon...  Not sure what I think about that...   :-\  I wonder what's the "redesign" exactly?  The first one cost $100 (I think), so I'll be damned if I'm going to shell out that much again for a slightly retooled one.  Of course, then my obsessive compulsive "completism" will be gnawing away at me desparately!   >:(

I could go for a UCS Falcon though, if perhaps the news scoop got mixed up a little somewhere along the way...
