I see a communicator there.  :-\  To me, that looks just like Ford, what you can see, so I always assumed it was Ford...  It was definitely Han's idea, but it's totally plausible he sent some random schmuck up to do it too, so if that is a stache I could go either way on the scenario then I guess.  It really looks like he has a hood on under the helmet too which is weird...  I forget if the pilots we see close-ups of look like they have a hood on too.

Now on the debate of the guy chucked off the AT-ST, people can survive big falls...  I'm saying broken limb(s), maybe broken vertebrae...  lights on his head and a broken neck I suppose.  I think it's a survivable fall though under most circumstances, plus it's not moving till after he's pitched off it. ;)  the Ewoks though...  yeah, well if they find him, who knows.  I still have to wonder, would the Alliance have intervened on the Ewoks eating prisoners?  Or would they just let that stuff go?

If you watch the scene, the area the arrow is pointing to moves in sync with the dialogue - separate from the communicator.

Maybe it's one of those tall Magnum P.I. mustachios?  ;)

This is a disturbing conversation.

I think I would chalk up the appearance of the hood to the combination of helmet straps & Han's moppy haircut. As for the moustache, Harrison Ford has some pretty pronounced upper lip area, that might appear like a moustache when top lit like in that shot...

Guys, it's a pretty simple explanation...

Step 1: Han "Wait! I've got an idea."

Step 2: Han Solo wearing a helmet and gloves, and not showing anything else "It's over commander...blah, blah, blah..."

Step 3: Han Solo surprising the reinforcement troops with a grin and shoulder shrug.

If it looks like Han Solo, sounds like Han Solo, ends with Han Solo and was Han Solo's idea, then it's Han Solo.

Thanks for breaking this one out into it's own thread, by the way! It's nice to have a good, healthy debate again.

I think that is clearly ford in that screen grab.

It also reinforces Han's "I'll fool them by pretending to be one of them" that he tried in the Death Star in ANH.   RotJ is all about revisiting themes from the other films, especially with Han.

Is that the only time in the Original Trilogy we see "view screens" used instead of hologram communications (or audio only)? I guess there's the Probot siginal. Yes, I still call it a probot.

Doesn't vader use a screen of sorts to communicate when he executes Admiral Ozzel?

That is clearly Harrison Ford. Look at the line to the left of his nose.

I believe it is Han in the video... perhaps the gloved hand is from a dead pilot and someone just is holding the hand in front of Han's face and the fleshy parts looked like fingers to me, depressing the actuator on the mic.

Totally couldn't give a toss about a moustache vs no-moustache.  It's a marginal version of Han Solo, and I was surprised that Hasbro decided to go there a few years ago when they made him back in 2004.  A version which includes him holding the communicator, BTW.

To me, this is a lower priority for the next Han Solo figure than say, a carbon freeze chamber Han.  That's a figure that seems to be far more worthy of a modern resculpt.  If Hasbro wants to revise AT-ST Driver disguise Han Solo based on the new AT-ST Drivers AFTER they get to Carbon Freeze chamber Han, then fine.  But it should be lower in the pecking order of upcoming Han Solo figures.
