Sooner, rather than later?

If "trailer spoilers" are a thing ( ??? ), don't read that article.

I won't pay to see just a trailer, but it's neat they're letting people know where it'll be at least, if they are planning to go to a film over the holiday.  I'm not big on paying to see stuff at the theater though and don't have kids to take to cartoons and things.   :-\

I've been checking in on Twitter at various points today.  Is it just me or could the sneak preview teaser trailer announcement have been any more screwed up?

"Hey everyone, an 88-second teaser trailer for The Force Awakens may or may not be coming to a theater chain near you!  And that theater chain may or may not be showing it this weekend at their theater closest to you! And they may or may not have figured out on which movies they'll be screening it even though it's just 4 days away!"

I shouldn't need someone to build a map/table of theater chains and locations to figure out if I can see it this weekend or not...

Of course, just minutes after I rant about what a cluster it is, StarWars.com finally puts out a list of theaters at least...

This will probably be 70 seconds of words and maybe a split second of all of the OT characters. Doubt we see much footage

This seems like a totally strange way to unveil a trailer. It would have been cool if it had been exclusive to some small mom-and-pop theaters for a week, as opposed to select theaters from large chains. I don't think this alienates fans (though initially it seemed like it), since the trailer will soon be released online and shown at all theaters, but it's just a bizarre way to roll it out. It serves no apparent purpose.

Universal's approach with Jurassic World is much more sensible.

I've tried to stay relatively spoiler free... Not sure I will be able to resist this though.
