TRU "Jabba's Rancor Pit" Battle Pack
« on: April 10, 2015, 10:51 AM »
Took a long time for this rumored set to show up...

According to Rebelscum and the UK TRU computer system, looks like there may be some kind of Cantina and Jabba's Palace/Rancor Battle Packs coming this Fall

Saw this on Dan Curto's facebook page - Jabba's Rancor Pit Box Set

Besides the pic, there are no details other than it's probably a TRU exclusive box of stuff you probably already own (just like TRU's Endor/AT-ST box set last year).

There is debate as to the sculpt of the Jabba. It clearly looks to good to be the one that was exclusive to Walmart, and it's too small to be a 6" version. So, that leave it being a new sculpt. (which would be very weird).

If that Endor set at TRU was $99.99, this thing is going to cost $499.99

Going back to the original rumor (which correctly called the Han/Greedo set for $40 and the Endor/ATST set for $100), then this thing is probably going to be about $130.

If Hasbro drops a brand new Jabba sculpt as the only new thing in a pack that is rumored to be around $129.99, then they truly have lost all touch with what collectors want these days.

It looks like a repainted Walmart Jabba to me (based on the arms, nostrils, and eyes), but the window-box glare and flash make it hard to tell I guess...

I don't see a Rancor Keeper in there. Definite pass.  ;)

I actually might pick this up... I passed on the Rancor because I was pissed that Target bumped the price up $10-15. I don't think I have that Luke or 3PO either, and more Gamorreans are always nice considering how rare they were here.

VC Luke, Slave Leia, 3-PO, Gamorean.  Target Rancor and Wal-Mart Jabba.  That's actually a pretty decent set.
This is the way.

I have spoken.

So, it sounds like the Jabba in this set is indeed all-new (or, a scaled down version of the Black Series 6" Jabba).

If Hasbro drops a brand new Jabba sculpt as the only new thing in a pack that is rumored to be around $129.99, then they truly have lost all touch with what collectors want these days.

I didn't really think they would stoop so low as to putting a brand new Jabba in a $130 Battle Pack... disappointing.  :-\

I'd probably buy a new Jabba if he was alone (or in Vintage Collection/Kenner packaging), but I can't really bring myself to drop the extra $100 on stuff I don't really need to get this one.

Disappointing is a nice word

For me, its an easier buy. I never bought the Rancor, C3po, Jabba and that fluffball GG. It might not be a bad deal considering prices on these things now.

The Wal-Mart Jabba was an excellent figure, so I think I'm fine.

Just swap out an old Jabba and return the set to the store.
I know how Jesse likes figure swapper jokes.   ;)

I'm still the only who remembers years ago when someone at Hasbro said multipacks would either be all-new or all-reissue. That person must've been reassigned.  :-X
