The Millenium Falcon was part of the Global Unboxing event if you want to get a look at it in video.

I'll be honest, it's not as bad as I thought.
Still not great. Still not getting it.

So I take it that this is a later release? I didn't see it (or a space for it) at any of the big three today, and don't recall having read anyone else getting this either.

I may skip on this entirely. There's nothing here for me.

Kudos to you, Jayson, for posting the Bloomberg article about Mark Boudreaux, senior designer for Hasbro.  I probably met Mark for the first time about 10 years ago at either Toy Fair or a convention, and he's an incredibly gracious guy who is very generous with his time.  He worked on the design of the original Millennium Falcon toy for Kenner, the BMF Falcon and the new version for THE FORCE AWAKENS.  He really is one of the unsung heroes of the hobby and those of us who started collecting as kids in the 70's owe so much of our enjoyment of this line to Mark and his work.  And it was great to read that even at 60, he's working enthusiastically on the toy line for ROGUE ONE and wants to see his way through to EPISODE 8 and 9!

Is the BB8 different than the 2 pack (3 pack) version?

Yep.  You can find a bigger comparison pic and details at Adam Pawlus' Figure of the Day.

Spotted this at TRU tonight, two of them to be exact. No price tag on the shelf, and I didn't check, but they had the spider wrap, which I've can't recall seeing at TRU. Might be bad news for people trying to get this MOC.

I've seen that security measure on a number of items that are $100 or more.  I've even seen them on the 40" tall Darth Vader and FO Stormtroopers.

I had that problem with the Vintage repackaging of the BMF. Thankfully, I'm in my "regular" TRU enough that if I ask them if they wouldn't mind holding one aside for me w/o putting the spider-web wrap around it, they're willing to help me out. So if you're looking for one of these and want it MIB, I'd recommend taking that route, especially if you have a pleasant "rapport" with the employees at your local store.

I also saw these a few days ago at TRU along with the 6" scale TIE Fighter. I believe it had a price sticker of $110 but I could be wrong.

The MF is $112 online at TRU.com (the TIE isn't listed online).

I know there has been a lot of lamenting about this being a kids toy.  Its not accurate enough for collectors.  The Nerf stuff is stupid.

I pulled the trigger and ordered this the other day, and it showed up on my doorstep yesterday.  My kids (8, 5, 5) saw it and thought it was the coolest thing they've ever seen.  Granted we didnt' open it, but they were looking at the box and features advertised.  They absolutely loved the Nerf action feature and were pumped to get a BB-8.

These are the same kids that have an opened BMF (and other toys) laying around that they don't interact with much.

I'll be interested to crack this open and see how they play with it.  They love the action features on the Clone Turbo Tank, and I think they'll love this as well.

I'll hold my full on kudos for Hasbro until this is opened and fully assessed, but honestly, these are toys and should be designed for 8 year olds, not 40-something year olds.  I'm hopeful my kids are as excited to continually play with this as they seemed by the promise the sealed box holds.

I get it that collectors won't be as interested in this, but that is okay.  We've got a BMF.  I'm glad they made this one for the kids.
