Willie and Dylan are gonna be in Birmingham this June? Awesome - I'm gonna go, if I can. Later that month I'll actually be going to the Bonnaroo Music/Arts Festival. Anyone else going and wanna meet up for a drink or lunch or something?

The very first concert I ever went to was Sha Na Na in Allentown PA when I was 9 or 10.

In highschool, I saw the Monkees with Weird Al opening and the Hooters doing a benefit concert at a local High school. The Hooters concert was memerable because they played one of my favorate Beatles songs, "Hide Your Love Away."

In collage I saw Genesis in 92 and Yes twice during their Union tour. I also saw Meatloaf and Paul MaCartny, but missed Pear Jam and Bob Dylan when they came to town. Genesis is my favorate band, and when they started "Dancing on a Volcano," I could have died a happy boy.

After I moved to LA, I got see a lot more shows:

Pink Floyd
Rush - twice
The Who at the Hollywood bowl. - I'll never forget Pete Townsend's acustic "Drowned."
U2
Yes - three times, once at a 500 person concert at Tower records, they signed autographs.
The Moody Blues at the Hollywood Bowl
John Williams at the Hollywood Bowl - I do this show every year.
Peter Gabriel - Up tour, I had 3rd row seats.
Bare Naked Ladies and Alanis Morrset
Spocks Beard - twice
Porcupine tree - at the house of blues

My freind also plays in a Genesis cover band, so I go to his shows every other month. They're excellent.

But I have to say, the best concert I've ever gone to, and may ever go to in my life, was last year by a cover band called The Musical Box. They reproduced the 1974 Lamb Lies Down on Broadway tour with props, slides and costumes on loan from Genesis. The music was spot on and the vocals were uncanny. It was quite simply an amazing concert and ahead of it's time for 1974.

Picked up several tickets yesterday for the Eagles concert at Staples Center in September.  Looking forward to that one.  Haven't seen them in action since New Year's eve 1999/00...

John Williams at the Hollywood Bowl - I do this show every year.

We go see that same show most years as well, Anthony.  I'm sure we've both been there at the same time.  So I assume you're going to this summer's then?  We're still deciding on it ourselves...

Sha-Na-Na.  Oh man, that's classic!  I remember watching those guys on TV all the time when I was little.  Too cool.

If anyone happens upon any spare Paul McCartney tickets, Sept. 20, Atlanta, GA, let me know. I think they are sold out at Ticketmaster... I really wanted that for my birthday, damnit!

The tickets aren't on sale for Des Moines yet. I should say pre-sale.

Most of these dates are available to buy on Monday morning.

The best Arena style concert I've been to was Pink Floyd at Death Valley stadium in Clemson.

one of the best small venue bands I've ever seen (and I've seen them three times) is Dada.  I was at the show in Santa Ana where they recorded thair live album....you can hear me whistling on the cd!  ;D

Other concerts I've been to and enjoyed:

Rolling Stones (Steel Wheels tour) w/ Living Colour
Elton John
Def Leppard (The Hysteria tour) with Europe opening
Huffamoose
Cracker/Camper Van Beethoven
Canned Heat
Incubus
Hoobastank
Gwar
Ozzy Osbourne
Dave Matthews Band

There's a bunch more, but I'm kinda flaking right now.

Well I managed to pick up two tickets to see Paul McCartney in Atlanta. Unfortunately, the seats look pretty lousy, and cost more than I wanted to spend - it's going to cost me roughly $100, but I think my mom is going to cover it since it is the day before my birthday. How cool.

I've also got tickets to see Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson in Birmingham this June.

I'll be going to Bonnaroo, also in June.

In May I will be going to a charity festival thing, where a handful of bands will be playing for a good cause... Eliot Morris, The Duhks, Blue Merle, Drivin' N' Cryin', Hootie & The Blowfish, Meteorite, Downright, Tonic, Shinedown, Seether, and the Wallflowers. Nobody I'm too crazy about, but it should be fun.

Went to the Sloss Furnice last night, an old Iron Ore furnace... Amazing place to hold a concert, it's got a train track right beside the stage, so the bands have to either drown out the train or just stand there and wait...

Seen:

June 3, 2005: Eliot Morris, Moses Mayfield, and My Morning Jacket

Have tickets to:

June 5, 2005: The Green Cards, Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson
June 10-12, 2005: Bonnaroo!
June 17-20, 2005: City Stages (My Morning Jacket, The Killers, etc)
August 23, 2005: Green Day
September 20, 2005: Paul McCartney
October 1, 2005: Elton John

I'd also like to catch the Rolling Stones tour, but I don't know if I will or not.

Wish I was going to Bonnaroo, just not in the cards this year though. When are you driving up Brad? When you're on I-24E you'll go right through my town (Murfreesboro) about 20 miles before you reach Manchester.

I'd like to go to the Warped Tour to see Billy Idol, if only for that reason.

Next time Linkin Park tours locally through here, I'm gonna see them too.

I'm going to see Dada for the 4th time this Saturday!

It's the first time I'll see them in an open-air venue.
