6" Black Series Rogue One Wave 2 (aka Wave 8)
« on: September 1, 2016, 03:51 PM »
A little bit surprised that a couple of the figures mentioned in the Hasbro press release escaped notice:

STAR WARS: THE BLACK SERIES 6-Inch Figure Assortment
(Ages 4 years & up/Approx. Retail Price: $19.99/Available: Fall 2016)
Bring home the adventure from ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY in impressive detail with STAR WARS: THE BLACK SERIES figures. Each 6-inch scale figure features extensive articulation and realistic character design for the ultimate collector. Characters include JYN ERSO, CAPTAIN CASSIAN ANDOR, K-2SO, IMPERIAL DEATH TROOPER, DIRECTOR  KRENNIC, SCARIF STORMTROOPER SQUAD LEADER, and more. Each figure sold separately. Available at most major retailers and on HasbroToyShop.com.

You had to expect to see Director Krennic in a Black Series 6" figure assortment.  And it's good to see the Scarif Stormtrooper Squad Leader in there, too.

They didn't escape notice.  Just didn't have a Wave 2 thread to post them in yet... ;)

AH!  And here we are.  With tomorrow's etailer listings we should have a clearer indication of what else is in the next wave.  I'm curious if they're going to remain largely focused on ROGUE ONE, or start to introduce a bunch of the figures that got unveiled at SDCC.

No other preorders or listings (from Hasbro) are going up tomorrow. Just 6" Jyn, TBS Stormtrooper helmet and U-wing.  :-\

I might just skip Wave 1 entirely and preorder a case of Wave 2 as soon as it's available. Much more interesting figure selection.

Both those figures look great, although I'm wondering if Krennic's cape is molded like Phasma's or soft goods.

Krennic looks sharp!  And the Scarif Trooper is looking more and more like a variation on the ROTJ Scout Trooper to me.

Nice scoop over at Yakface with a look at what seems to be the Black Series 6" Cassian Andor in his Rebel/Yavin IV uniform.

I just don't see how a spare gold arm could cost more to pack in than a blaster, removable helmet, and alternate set of hands. (Poe) The amount of plastic, tooling, paint etc is certainly comparable.

Of course I realize the answer is so they can sell me the same figure again later, but thats weak.

I see Hasbro trying to maximize their profit on this.  And that means multiple versions of C-3PO over the course of several years.  Just think of the variations!
-TPM (no coverings)
-AOTC (mis-matched grey/metallic coverings)
-ROTS (shiny gold coverings)
-ANH (burnished gold coverings, silver leg)
-TESB (blasted apart, silver leg)
-ROTJ (silver leg, different midsection)
-TFA (red arm & later gold arm)

And that's not counting any other protocol droid, like TC-14, U-3PO, K-3PO or whatever else.  Give Hasbro some time and they're going to get their money's worth out of this mold.

I found another fresh case of this wave at Target over lunch today and was happy to pick up another Scarif Squad Leader to command the troops I haven't built yet. Think I'm good with two of those guys. Also grabbed another Death Trooper because I have not yet conceived of a reasonable number of those guys to stop at... :P
